Saw this on a rainy Tuesday night after YouTube tossed it into my recommendations "classic cartoon," they said. Sure, why not?
About an hour later, I mostly just shrugged. The hand-drawn look is cute but feels stiff, at times it reminded me of an old TV commercial more than a movie. The plot three cinema-obsessed mice decide to pull off the ultimate cheese heist might carry a short, but it starts to drag once you get the joke.
I do get why some folks adore it: if you caught this on Czech afternoon TV back in the 80s, the nostalgia factor must hit hard. I don't have that connection, so the charm wore thin pretty quickly. Biggest plus for me was Petr Skoumal's playful score, at least my ears were entertained.
Bottom line: if you're into vintage Eastern Bloc animation or chasing childhood memories, give it a spin. Everyone else can watch the trailer and move on.
