low budget ambitious sci fi, big on creativity

A low budget, high concept science fiction feature. The acting is solid and the mood of the film is odd yet engaging. The special effects are plentiful and work well within the context of the film. Some of the shots are fantastic and would hold up to any big budget fx picture. And unlike most low budget indie features these days, it was shot on film (black and white 16mm).

Some of the techniques used by Director Webster Crowell include extensive use of pixilation, stop motion animation (his puppets seem to be mostly made from "found objects") and cut-out animation.

There's a quite creative visual gimmick with a time travel sort of device... actually I'm not sure if it was time travel or some sort of matter storage device... anyway it was clever.
