A captivating adaptation of an Edgar Allen Poe favorite

This film provides a very interesting twist on a classic story, Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart." The film however is only loosely connected in that the overall theme of the plot is similar.

Though the film is short, director Alberto Diaz is able to develop several characters in depth and you can really see into their minds. The cast is a set of relative unknowns but there are a few who have been in the Indianapolis local film scene for some time.

Overall, this film displays fine performances by its actors, especially from rookies like James Moorman and Matthew Trent. It's direction was excellent as well and we can anticipate great things from Diaz in the future.

    • Trivia
For audio purposes, the air conditioning in the restaurant was turned off. With a scorching July summer heat, cast/crew second hand smoke and a 550 degree oven as a giant prop, the thermostat in the dining room read 110 degrees on one particular night.
    • Alternate versions
In subsequent screenings following the 23 June 2003 premiere at Indy Film Experiment (Indianapolis) A fantasy sequence with Blowers, Shannon was scrapped because it was said to have "slowed the movie down early" and " confused audiences" making them think it was some psychosexual drama instead of the absurd comedy the director intended it to be. The sequence is found in the supplemental material on the DVD.
