A measure-up but still not enough

In 'Das allerbeste Stück' the story picks up where the first film 'Das beste Stück', left off. In that early 00s, new-wave raunchy romantic comedy, we followed a handsome guy who was insecure about his short stick while trying to date a woman who was eager to get 'that' too. Despite the small problems, they ended up together at the end of the first film.

So, this film starts off with what appears to be a dream sequence which quickly turns into a nightmare as one of our hero's worst fears comes true, in the delivery room, he discovers that his future baby boy is unequipped down there.

He wakes up and is seen lying next to his girlfriend. During his usual pre-work breakfast drive, he decides to buy the ring! He'll even sell his old-school Firebird for it. At breakfast, he pops the big question, with a nice little callback to how they first met in the previous film.

In his serene happiness, he visits his support group where our hero states that 'size doesn't really matter' it's 'love that truly matters!'.

Oh, here comes the conflict: while they're visiting the wedding venue, it turns out that the new boyfriend of the female protagonist's best friend is none other than her ex! Doctor Tim, the gynecologist. Where else but in the men's room does it turn out there's another little thing - well, a not-so-little thing.

In plain and short, our hero has a little boa while his fiancee's ex has a MASSIVE anaconda. Once again, our hero's insecurity gets him into trouble a lot, causing him to stumble with doubt. It also doesn't help that Doctor Tim is way too accommodating and friendly - could he be acting deliberately?

It's German, it's cheesy and it's cringe at times. On the other hand, the unequipped male protagonist's perspective makes it somewhat notable and relatable to an extent. The message is cliched but kind of nice: believe in yourself and appreciate the little things in life.

I liked it slightly better than the previous one, at least the comedic elements worked better here, and it was less at our unhung hero's expense. That's why I rate it a 4.4/10. Though, sadly, it's still below average where it counts.
