Crying and Wanking

A woman is indoors, naked. She mulls over the bones of a finished relationship trying to find some pleasure or happiness in her life but only feeling the pain and loss from the relationship.

I will watch anything if it has an interesting hook to keep me involved. Here the dialogue is used to hint at a pain and emptiness in the character's life. While the back story is not really ever revealed, enough of it is apparent from the script - although the focus here seems to be less about the past than about the present. It doesn't totally work in that regard but it is interesting and involving enough to hold.

The animation is the problem side of things for me. I understand it was done on a low budget, but it is far too rough (dare I say, ugly?) for my tastes. It has imaginative moments as it mixes live action and animation, but the pure animation side of the film just didn't work for me.

Overall this was an interesting short, but I found it too rough to really involve me. I accept that looks isn't everything but on the whole I really could have used a bit more of a character to the short, rather than the style feeling like it was more to do with money than choice.

"So, this is it, eh? My life story on celluloid and nobody even told me.What's that? It's not about me? Right, haha..joking about that..um.. So, it's got a LADY in it, eh? Not bad at all. This sounds promising. A real live FEMALE wanking? Thank you Lord! I knew that you were listening, I just.....

Excuse me? What's that? You say it's a cartoon? Well, not exactly what I was hoping for, but it'll do in a pinch, I suppose. I mean, it's a short, right? I mean, that's perfect. It doesn't need to be that long anyways...What do you mean it's got plot? So, there's more crying than wanking? Ugh. Let me get this straight: It's a animated short film about a woman who grieves over a failed relationship?

Never mind. I'm off to go watch 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'. You know if you pause it just right, you can see straight up Jessica Rabbit's dress! Bye."

Moral of this story: If there's gonna be a woman in a film about wanking, it'd better:

A.) Have the woman wanking.

B.) Have Jennifer Connelly in the lead role.
