Unless you're female, don't bother, and even then ...................

I went to see this one, just to make pleasure to a lady friend ! In the end both her and I were bored to death and came out of the cinema with the feeling of having wasted two tickets !

What one can say is that if you're a man, you might as well rule this one out from the start ! It can only appeal to ladies, and not all ladies. It will appeal to ladies who have an empty head, who have a less than subtle sense of humour and who may possibly be able to "identify" with the problems of the female protagonist. It's what the Americans call a "chick flick" but not a good chick flick. I'm sure that the same them treated Hollywood fashion would be far more passable script-wise !

The level of spoken language is pretty poor, there are countless utilisations of vulgar words and whilst I can imagine the leading actress possibly pleasing some people, she is absolutely not my cup of tea either physically or with her character.

The film doesn't seem to go anywhere and is debased even further when we have to put up with several scenes of drunken women sprawled over sofas muttering gibberish. I was above all shocked by the shallow relationships these women had with men ( who were know better than them ) and the only actor I knew and liked, i.e. Patrick Chesnais, Elisa's father, had a relatively minor role. I like films with intense and passionate love stories, this film is exactly the opposite, it is about poor "paumées" who drink their way through life and do not know where they're going !

In, short, then , only go to see this film if you are 1) female and 2) completely stoned. Its only saving grace is that it is not overlong and, lest I forget, the soundtrack is not uninteresting !!

    Not Just a Chick Flick

I saw this movie when I was flying back from a vacation in Europe and I laughed out loud throughout it. The movie was in french with English sub-titles. Sure the lead actress used some profanity...that's one of the reasons it was so funny. She called it like it was.

To say I dislike chick-flicks is an understatement. If it has Julia Roberts or Hugh Grant, then I steer clear, but I liked this movie. Men and women would find this movie appealing...the men possibly even more than the women.

I'm not sure why there is a minimum length requirement for comments. It forces those that have something worthy to say (not necessarily me) in just a few sentences to pad their input. Wouldn't it make more sense to have a maximum rather than a minimum?
