Behold the Raven

This movie shows that J.A. Tripp(Director) will become a man to watch in the world of low budget genre films. "Behold The Raven" does an excellent job building suspense and lovingly stays true to its comic themed origin. The film is shot in a stylistic manner that brings to mind Fritz Lang and Guy Maddin's proactive use of color to move along the story. The mystical aspects of the film are only enhanced by being filmed in a technique reminiscent of early coloring efforts. Like the one's used in the original prints of "Nosferatu" and "The Cabinet Of Dr.Caligari". Also worth mentioning is the excellent sound quality of this feature. These days many low budget features have a sparse sound track. This is not the case with "Behold The Raven". The movie's sound is layered in a way that augments the elements of the story. Building to a remarkable climax near the end. All in all, a damn good first feature for a director.

I have heard about this fantastic film with an upcoming new star, Bobby Browning, but do not know where to get a copy or where I can see it myself. The era and story are topics that are of interest to me. From what I have read and heard about this film I do not understand why it has not previewed in numerous areas around the country. This was to be a trilogy and should be viewed by movie-goers who, like myself, are hungry for this type of film. I believe this would be a treasure to add to my DVD collection, especially a Raven trilogy. This film is of great interest to me and I haven't even seen it. I believe there are many other film fans who would also enjoy viewing this first film. Bobby Browning has great potential to become a noted actor if given the exposure he deserves.
