Normally I'm one to enjoy a mindless action movie regardless of writing, acting or directorial style. These are generally good movies to watch as entertainment in the background. Last night I queued up "Fugitive Hunter." I was disappointed. This movie didn't succeed at anything. It was too flat to have any sort of compelling drama, the action was too badly-choreographed to get any adrenalin flowing, and the movie too itself too seriously to gain any significant "camp" value. The writing and directing were not only sub-par, they were almost laughably bad. Unfortunately they weren't so bad as to inspire actual laughter, but rather only a disbelieving sidelong stare.
Maybe if it's 3AM and you can't sleep and this movie is on cable it might be worth tuning in for a few minutes, but I just can't recommend spending any money on this flick.

Watched the film last night!
I was very pleasantly surprised by this production. I found myself drawn in to the movie from the beginning and through to the end. I'm no fugitive, so I never knew about the 8th Amendment and the rights of bail law, or for that matter how the bail bonds agencies cope with bail jumpers. I realize that the movie was embellished from actual events, however I found the film to be very believable.
I am especially impressed with the fact that the drama of the film was tempered by Keno's quirky comic relief. Hats off to this tremendous effort considering all the constraints of low budget productions. How often are we treated to an action drama with none of the "Hollywood" gratuities?
The film-look fits the genre, grainy; low budget and dark, I thought the Director made a good call there.

I'm giving this movie a 10 because I saw it on the same night I saw THE MARKSMAN. That movie sucked major. Snipes is finished. He should be glad he had a career or something.
FUGITIVE HUNTER was so much better than Marksman because it had a STORY!! Can you believe some movie makers forget to include that? I bought both films on Amazon together for a discounted price... who would have thought the cheaper looking movie would be way better? Not me.
For my money (of which they already stole from me) FUGITIVE HUNTER wipes the floor with THE MARKSMAN!

I viewed this film privately during an acquisitions meeting in Santa Monica. I was somewhat interested in the general premise of this film but wasn't sure of how it would deliver. After a few minutes I realized that this was a gem of a micro-budget film. It follows an engaging story line that gets straight to the point, while not being obvious. The characters are unique. The dialogue is rough, but funny. The overall tone of the film follows more of a 80's action flick. Due to the film's lack of budget there are no special effects, but believe it or not it's not missed. Don't let the budget ($80k) deter you from watching this as the producers of this film stretched every dollar as far they could. The film actually looks like it could have easily cost close to $1 Million.
Overall, this is great piece of film that nobody will probably watch. It's also a great learning tool for those that wish to make films on the dime. I don't know if there's going to be a commentary on the DVD or not, but it would be a good idea. I recommend this film to anyone that enjoys taking a risk on something that they normally wouldn't see.

Why do people have to copy films they see instead of making something original? There is nothing new or interesting in this movie. It looks like a bad DV movie. Rehashes of tired slo-mo shooting scenes, that are poor copies at that, and staged fights. Don't people realize that it's the film that shows something different and unique or weird that gets noticed? Seems like the filmmakers in Sacramento are still trying to ride the coattails of Blood, Guts, and Octane. A fluke of film that happened to hit at a time right when that whole indie Clerks/Pulp Fiction thing was big. But this is the to be expected, the outcome of mediocrity. I just hope one day people will wake up and see that.
