incredible game, lots of replay value

i bought this game a few days after it came out, and haven't stopped playing it since, so addictive, ONSLAUGHT, DEATHMATCH, etc.. so many mods(addons that modify the original game to create a new experience, like new weapons, new vehicles, etc) that its always a bit different, and it has a great community of people that play it. sure, the grafix are outdated a bit because the game is getting a bit old, but after i finished doom 3 i went back to unreal tournament 2004, after i finished quake 4 i went back to unreal tournament 2004, its just a game that never gets old, soo many maps always being created by fans as well, i just hope ut2007 will be a better version of ut2004 and not a step backwards.

          Good improvement from 2003

1999's Unreal Tournament was a smash hit in the FPS genre. It was awarded Game of the Year, and it became gold. The long-waited sequel Unreal Tournament 2003 became good for the graphics, but the game play was in it's lowest, but now, Unreal Tournament 2004 is here. Let me go step-by-step on how this game is better than it's predecessor, still the original UT was good.

Gameplay: A wonderful improvement. The gameplay is so amazing, but if your going on single-player, do not be guaranteed to be happy. The AI in the game is slightly terrible, Bots tend to ignore yer commands, and start doing things on their own. I played Capture the Flag on single-player, and i order a bot to stand pose to my teams flag. A bot from the opposing team goes in and takes the flag. My teams bot stand's their turned around without even noticing that the flag has been taken. Another bot of my team goes and tries to kill the opposing bot, the opposing bot goes off, and my teams bot goes back, and let's him go. They add new gametypes, like Onslaught mode, which u and yer team must power up power nodes to overtake and destroy the opposing team's main power code, seems boring, but their add new land based and air based vehicles to make the game more extreme and more fun. They also added the long-lost Assualt mode back again from the original UT. They have also the game types that where included from bonus packs for UT2003.

Weps: The weapons have been improved, the visuals changes and their skins also, except the rocket launcher, flak cannon, and the lightning gun. The lightning gun was repetitive because of the slow firing rate in 2003, but in 2004, the firing rate has improved, and it's perfect. They added new weapons including Grenade Launcher, the AvRil(Short for Anti-Vehicle Rocket Launcher),and a Mine layer which place spider-crawler mines, and u order them where u want them to go with a tracter beam. (These three can be used on Onslaught, but their is a mutautor that makes u use it on deathmatch, ctf, etc.)

Maps: UT2004 is packed with tons of maps, including ut2003 bonus pack maps, the original ut2003 maps, and of course, brand new ut2004 maps.

Mutiplayer: UT2004 has more enchanced tools used for online multiplaying. Be warned: If u are a dial-up gamer, their is a lot of online servers that uses lots of mutators and maps that take long just to download, so this game is a cable/dsl users paradise. You have a new feature to use yer mic to command yer teammates and taunt yer opponents, or just chat, with a build in voice chat feature. Also, when u text chat, a build in computer voice reads the messages aloud for u for those lazy readers :P

Game Models: The models move better than the Ut2003 dog walking move. They move more humanly than animaly, and good think they fix that.

Graphics: The graphics in this game are incredible, but although it's the same as in ut2003, which is good caus i didn't have the money to afford a new vid card. :)

Package: This isn't necessary but the package includes, of course, the game with 5 cds including a play disc, 3 red shiny Atari® stickers, a $ 10 rebate for Unreal Tournament 2004 when u bought 2003, a Alienware contest form.

It's the best game around if u are a fan, the good graphics, or if u are good with tactical skills with weps and vehicles then this is the game for u. Good thing they had to delay till March of 2004, so they would spent more time fixing and making sure this game gives out the best experience on gaming.

          • Trivia
When Unreal Tournament 2003 (2002) was released, many players complained about the lack of a very popular game type called "Assault". Returning in UT2004 to great fanfare, the game type was quickly ignored for the more popular "Onslaught" game type.
