Mama

Having spent the day watching short films of the 1970's,I got in the mood to wrap the viewings up on a good note. Enticed by a title I randomly stumbled on,I got set to meet mama.

Moving to the sweet Jazzy score from Vladimir Shainskiy, director Roman Kachanov & cinematographer Teodor Bunimovich gives the animation a adorable scrappy appearance, where the boy tearing paper up at home, as his mum stands in line trying to grab shopping whilst being desperate to get back to her son, being given a home made quality in the stop-start motion of the characters.

Not featuring one line of dialogue, the screenplay by Sergey Mikhalkov wears a gentle, poetic touch,warming in the wild, fearful imagination from the parent of her son getting a or trying to shave,whilst in reality,the son waits for the return of mama.
