Please do it again, but do not try to be Disney or PIXAR

I grew up in Argentina with PATORUZITO, PATORUZU and ISIDORO 's comics as many other millions did in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Peru and may be other countries with a native inheritance.

PATORUZITO and his spin offs comics, delivered a beautiful message of love, humble and forgiveness with a sincerity that no actual comic (and even less any PIXAR movie) could came even close.

When I heard about the movie; of course I was worried. In today's standards of 3D / COMPUTER GENERATED cartoons; PATORUIZITO could came up as a total disaster. To my relief; most of the movie kept the old hand drawing, 2D and naive style that gave the comics its warm and all of us love. However, sadly, the creators got tempted by the new technology there lies the biggest failure in this movie.

PIXAR / Disney can spend hundred of millions in an image; trying to go to their territory is an almost defeated battle. the movie suffers in the inevitable comparison; which is not really fair; since P/D technical quality does not cover for their lack of humanity and real poetry, that PATORUZITO really has.

I would liked also a little more character development, particularly by Isidorito and less Lion King's scenes; but as a first try (and as far as I know commercially successful one) the movie is more than acceptable and I am anxious for the second installment.

Spoiled by the "updating" to present times.

Patoruzito comics -as well as Patoruzu's-, were the best readings I recall from my childhood. This comics were just great, and I can remember myself waiting anxiously for the next episode (they used to have a precise date of next episode written). I'm talking about the late '60s; however, it was by the end of that decade that the last and best ones appeared, because from that time on, they started to "bias" from their original standard... and not precisely for good. This is not a subjective appreciation, but an objective one, and the best proof of this is the value each old magazine has: the price for those published after 1970 drops vertically while all previous to that year are quite expensive (I managed to buy some of them recently, and they were not only indeed expensive, but incredibly difficult to find as well) Needless to say, this same thing happened to the movie: it's characters are FAR from the original. The most captivating (and central) character used to be Isidorito; any serious collector will at once agree on this. In the movie Isidorito appears older and slightly naughty, while in the originals he was just MUCH younger and TERRIBLY naughty. This lack alone is enough to ruin any script, however there are new characters which never before had appeared. As far as I can tell, there are only two characters that are completely faithful to the original and they are "Chiquizuel" and "Chupamiel"; all the rest has suffered some kind of biasing. As for the movie, I must say that I took the "task" to watch it all, because at no time did I feel captivated by the script (my 5 year old daughter liked it however). Oddly enough, the technical aspects of the film are indeed very good and well done. Because of all these, I am not rating this movie; this yes would be a subjective rate. However, the truth must be said that it's actual rating of 1.9 at the time I am writing this is in no way fair: the movie is just much better than what that number suggests, although in no way does it raise over average.
