Opinberun Hannesar is not a cinematic masterpiece but isn´t trying to be either. It is a fun little movie based on a story by our beloved Prime Minister and is directed by his old time friend and controversial director Hrafn Gunnlaugsson. A movie about a guy who has a few days of living hell. In Iceland people complained about the acting and it was done by amteurs ( this film has at least 3 trained actors in big roles and the lead actor is a man who has been doing movies, plays and television for years) and the script being rubbish and such well compare it to many other Icelandic film and this one is an oscar material. And I can tell you a few Icelandic movies that are with amateurs in the leading role. I give it a 7.
Opinberun Hannesar is a movie so poorly done in all ways, that watching it makes me angry. The film business here in Iceland is crap, theres no doubt about it. Sure we do have some talented people like Friðrik Þór Friðriksson but overall it is rubbish. If we get one good movie a year, we consider ourself lucky. So every time an Icelandic movie opens it interests me and most other film fans here. However, no one went to see Opinberun Hannesar. And for a good reason, the acting is laughable and the editing and all-around direction is like it was done by some amateur (or an incredibly untalented director, I´m not saying any names here *cought cought*Hrafn Jökulsson*cought*. To put it simply- this is one of the worst movies I´ve ever seen
I suggest you stay away from this piece of crap, it is a disgrace to our country.

This movie is supposed to be some kind of a profound criticism on the surveillance society. It does not succeed. It is just very boring, the music is awful, the acting is worse and it all looks very very low budget. It is claimed to be a comedy but I did not find anything seven slightly amusing in it. I do suspect that the short story by Davíð Oddsson which this film is based upon could be a fun read with a clear message but this film definitely is anything but that. Hrafn Gunnlaugsson needs to do us all a big favor and stop making movies, he simply is not good at it and never has been with the exception of Hrafninn flýgur. Opinberun Hannesar is a new low for the Icelandic movie industry, and we have seen quite awful movies before!
How many times have we seen it? The director who wants to be clever (and "political correct"). He who tells us that we should distrust the state and the computers guarding us and that all officials are to be laughed at.
It's completely boring and very, very simple. Hrafn Gunnlaugsson are trying to warn us, in a so called funny way, about the Kafka state, showing us the misfortunes of a small official with no girlfriend, living with his mother. Many bad things happens to the "little" man, but the root of the evil is of course certainly the most terrible thing in the world, The Government!
This kind of movies makes people socialists, just as an act of opposition.

This is one of the best comedy's i've ever seen. I can't believe all the bad criticism it is getting here! How can that be - i don't know.
I've watched it about 25 times and I still laugh my socks off - it's so funny.
Vidar Vikingsson is great in the movie as Hannes H. Adalsteinsson and the sound was incredible -good enough for an Oscar nominee!!!
One of Hrafn Gunnlaugsson's true greats. I would recommend it to everyone.
A PERFECT 10
Hope you'll see it.
