Routine but Interesting Curio for film buffs

Al Shean (half of the legendary vaudeville team of Gallagher & Shean) stars in this early 1930 haunted house comedy.

Supporting cast includes: Mary Clark; Evelyn Knapp; and Elisha Cook, Jr.

The routine plot has a married couple staying in a deserted house that is being used by a young dancing group.

Highlights are the dance numbers and background music score.

Film buffs may find this an interesting curio for seeing the Marx Brothers' Uncle Al and the 2nd known film appearance of Elisha Cook, Jr of Maltese Falcon fame.

Not as funny as you might expect with an Al Sheen film.

Al Sheen is a name very few would recognize today. He was the Marx Brothers' uncle...and helped them with their early stage appearances and even wrote some of their material. So, you'd expect one of his films to be pretty funny...and crazy. Despite this, the film is far from hilarious.

An older couple have car trouble and take shelter in a house. What they don't realize is that a group of high school students are using the place to prepare for a show...a show featuring all sorts of ghosts and folks walking around backwards. So, when they see these folks, the couple are terrified.

The film is very simple and one-dimensional. It has a few laughs...but only a few. Not terrible...just not all that good nor memorable.
