Not Worth the Time - Young Indiana Jones

I couldn't sleep on a weekday night last week, so I checked out this title on YouTube. Suffice it to say after 20 mind-numbing minutes of an amateur attempt at filmmaking, I was ready for dreamland. The only thing more boring than this film was an episode of how to sew buttons on a used jacket that was on one of the public television channels. At least that film taught you something; this junk was a complete waste of time; rehashing every stereotype of grave robbing in Egypt ever seen. The acting? Was more like a series of boring lectures, and these actors? Should not give up their day jobs. Not worth the time, and an embarrassment to the series and Harrison Ford; not to mention George Lucas. Thank God it never reached theaters and was spawned on TV.

Its so boring I need a thesaurus to find more ways to say its boring.

Stories about Indiana Jones should be fun and exciting. The big screen is perfect because it reminds us of a time when when there was no TV, and these serial adventures were played in the afternoon for maybe a nickle a patron, usually children, and their eyes were filled with wonder. The 3 Indiana Jones movies captured this brilliantly mostly because they had big budgets and could afford to tell the story properly, and keep us engaged.

The first episode of this series did almost everything wrong.

They tried going straight for the nostalgia factor instead of just telling a good story. They introduced established characters in a boring manner and made them seem unimpressive. Theres way too many scenes of pointless meandering and what I assume are efforts to establish new characters, but in a horrible manner. Theres too much generic action and not exploration and intrigue. The movies figured out that perfect balance and none of it shows here. Its like Lucas forgot what he was doing, or he really needed Spielburg full time. I dunno. But the final result is just sad. I will watch one more episode but if it stinks I'm quitting. This was a waste of time, other than maybe if you needed to do a study on how to waste time.
