Fathers Come In All Forms

Benjamin Bernouy has a school assignment to write about his father. But he doesn't have a father, just a mother. So he asks the men he meets about their fathers.

It's based on a book by Charlotte Zolotow, and is a sentimental little movie, with a piano score that's in a minor key to offer a bittersweet taste to the entire proceedings. It's well done, with all the men patient with the good-natured boy, but over all, it's a bit too sentimental for my taste.

Writer-Director Phillip Marshall does a little bit of everything in his movies. He edits, seems to be still working as I write this review.
