This fine, fresh, tingling documentary imaginatively explores the more picturesque and obscure ethnic byways of a giant metropolis that seldom sees them-or bothers to.This fine, fresh, tingling documentary imaginatively explores the more picturesque and obscure ethnic byways of a giant metropolis that seldom sees them-or bothers to.This fine, fresh, tingling documentary imaginatively explores the more picturesque and obscure ethnic byways of a giant metropolis that seldom sees them-or bothers to.

    Whip up an audience!

A heartfelt study of the early days of pluralism and gentrification of communities. This was the vision that launched the western world.

Its very beautiful in its tender study of struggling communities that build the city, and turned it in to the icon it is.

It's very diverse and covers a lot of ground, in a romantic but enlightening way. You get a glimpse of all the different communities, which together, made the city great.

Also enjoyed the director other main docu The Sky Above, Th Mud Below, which was 1st docu to win an academy award.

It is broad and brave in its outlook, and is the perfect docu to time capsule New York at that very important moment in time.

Only question is "where has it been?". As of 10/11/24 only 20 IMDB ratings. I caught it on Youtube.

Narrator: How beautiful these shining towers are. Architecture expresses an attitude. It reveals the psychology of the builder. It occurs to me that people who expect a bomb to fall don't build their walls of glass. A city of glass is like a declaration of peace.
