Jinkx Monsoon Wants 'X-Men' to Cast a Trans Woman as Mystique
Image
Broadway powerhouse, two-time RuPaul's Drag Race champion, and Doctor Who actress Jinkx Monsoon has lobbied for Marvel Studios to cast a trans woman in the McU's much-anticipated X-Menreboot. She believes that the role of mutant shapeshifter Mystique should go to a trans actress, following previous portrayals by Rebecca Romijn and Jennifer Lawrence in Fox's beloved superhero franchise. She explained why she thinks a trans woman should morph into the fan-favorite character, and even went so far as to manifest it for herself.

Speaking on the Vulture's Good Onepodcast, Monsoon, who is currently starring in the Tony Award-winning Broadway show Oh, Mary!, asked host Jesse David Fox whether she could take a moment to "manifest something.

The Awful TV Movie You Had No Idea Marvel Boss Kevin Feige Produced
Image
Kevin Feige is one of those nerds whose dream came true. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1995 and immediately got a gig as the assistant to Lauren Shuler Donner, the executive producer of Hollywood flicks like "Volcano" and "You've Got Mail." Evidently, Feige wouldn't stop talking about his obsession with Marvel Comics, and Donner got him a job working on Bryan Singer's 2000 film "X-Men" as a result. Feige has an associate producer credit on that film, and it went on to be a big hit. Not only that, but it was proof that Marvel superheroes were viable for screen adaptation, and a door started to swing open,...

Avengers: Doomsday (2026)
Alan Cumming had “amazing” Nightcrawler return in Avengers: Doomsday
Avengers: Doomsday (2026)
The MCU’s Avengers: Doomsday has an entire universe of expectations to it. And one group we will be keeping a close eye on is the X-Men. For the much-anticipated Phase Six entry, we’re looking at some serious names reprising their early Marvel roles: Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Patrick Stewart as Xavier, Ian McClellan as Magento, James Marsden as Gambit, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler (and let’s not forget Channing Tatum as Gambit…). Marvel as we know it has completely transformed since those earlier days of most of the aforementioned actors, and that’s something Cumming in particular is grateful for.

Alan Cumming recently spoke to People about returning as Nightcrawler even though he had a dreadful experience making 2003’s X2. “I just came back. It was amazing. It was actually really…in a sort of ooey, gooey way, it was really healing and...

Alan Cumming Loved Filming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ After ‘Terrible Experience’ on ‘X2’: ‘It Was Really Healing’
Image
Alan Cumming is back for “Avengers: Doomsday,” revising his role as the blue-skinned, sword-wielding, teleporting Nightcrawler. While Cumming famously didn’t love his time on “X2”. In “X2,” Kurt additionally covers his body in tattoos to mark his sins. This meant long hours in the makeup chair for Cumming. This process has since been significantly cut down — perhaps adding to Cumming’s renewed energy for the upcoming “Avengers” production.

Cumming won’t be the only actor from the ruins of Fox’s “X-Men” franchise coming back for “Avengers: Doomsday.” Joining the actor in the Russo brothers team-up film (featuring Robert Downey Jr. as the villainous Doctor Doom) are James Marsden (Cyclops), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto) and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique). This sprawling cast was announced as part of a livestream where Marvel Studios revealed director chairs with the actors’ names. Channing Tatum’s Gambit will also appear in the film,...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps North America Box Office Day 19 Update(Photo Credit –Facebook)

Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps has poor legs at the box office. Still, it is getting consolations by surpassing several Marvel movies. It has crossed the domestic haul of Doctor Strange, which performed way better than First Steps worldwide. The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ box office collection on day 19 in North America

Former Thing Actor Michael Chiklis Defends Critically Panned 'Fantastic Four' Movies
Image
Michael Chiklis, who played Ben Grimm / The Thing in 2005's Fantastic Four and 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, defends the movies from the poor critic reception they received two decades ago. Marvel's First Family are back in the spotlight thanks to The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which many consider to be the first time the superhero team has worked on screen. However, the nostalgia cycle has seen the 2000s films, which were criticized at the time of their release, looked back fondly on by the people who grew up with them as their first exposure to the classic Marvel heroes.

Speaking with Collider, Chiklis reflected on the lasting legacy of Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer despite poor critic reactions. He noted the films' box office grosses, noting, "We made three-quarters of $1 billion, those two movies. So, you know, all those people can...

Image
In a full-circle moment, James Marsden is returning to the role that first put him “on the map.”

The Paradise actor and newly minted Emmy nominee sat down with Vanity Fair recently to discuss reprising his X-Men character Cyclops in the Russo Brothers’ forthcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

The Westworld and Dead to Me alum continued, “I’m dead. Well, maybe not. I’m going to have a tough time struggling to get into costume if they waited a couple more years. So it’s been a blast. It really has. It’s been a nice little homecoming to...

James Marsden says returning as Cyclops for Avengers: Doomsday is “a nice little homecoming”
Avengers: Doomsday (2026)
Avengers: Doomsday has a lot to live up to. While Deadpool & Wolverine gave a good wink & nod to the past Marvel films released under other studios, Doomsday will attempt to blow the multiverse wide open with a teaming up of the official MCU characters and the original Fox X-Men cast. One such cast member who fans are excited to see return is James Marsden as Cyclops. Marsden portrayed the X-Men leader in X-Men, X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand. Many feel that the actor didn’t get his due by getting overshadowed by the focus on Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Scott Summers would have an anti-climactic end when Marsden was not available for much of X-Men: The Last Stand.

Marsden recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his new series, Paradise, when he inevitably fielded questions about Avengers: Doomsday. The actor explained, “I’m getting a little long...

James Marsden Speaks About His Return As Cyclops In 'Avengers: Doomsday'
Image
Of all the returning X-Men lined up for Avengers: Doomsday, few got fans more excited than James Marsden coming back to portray Scott Summers/Cyclops in what is bound to be one of next year's most massive movie releases. He's always been a fan favorite in the role, but he's also been frequently shortchanged by the X-Men films he's appeared in. To say he never really got to have his moments in the franchise would be an understatement, but Doomsday might afford him that overdue opportunity, something Marsden is very excited about as he gets behind the visor again.

During a chat with Vanity Fair, Marsden spoke about the current stage of his career, which has seen him earning some stellar reviews for Paradise — plus a Primetime Emmy Award nomination, his second after his hilarious turn on Jury Duty. Another part of this current stage is his return as Cyclops in Avengers: Doomsday,...

Fans will remember him from the 1993 Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman series, which ran for four seasons.

While he has shown support for Donald Trump’s Ice and its mission to implement deportation rules across the country, he’s not the first one in line. Other comic book movie actors previously endorsed Trump and his plans for America.

How To Train Your Dragon Worldwide Box Office(Photo Credit –YouTube)

The live-action adaptation of the 2010 animated fantasy adventure How to Train Your Dragon received rave reviews from critics after its theatrical release around two months ago. The remake has grossed over $619 million worldwide, surpassing several 2025 titles, including Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Sinners, and 28 Years Later.

Recently, How to Train Your Dragon also outperformed past box office hits like Steven Spielberg’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Daniel Craig’s Casino Royale, and The Passion of the Christ, among others. And now, the film is just inches away from overtaking a widely acclaimed Marvel superhero movie. That film is none other than James Mangold’s Rotten Tomatoes 93%-rated Logan (2017), starring Hugh Jackman as the titular hero.

A Bizarre Hugh Jackman Wolverine 'Cameo' Was Deleted From The First Fantastic Four Movie

In the early 2000s, superhero movies were on their way to becoming the dominant force in pop culture for the first time. There had previously been one-off hits such as Tim Burton's "Batman," but the success of 2000's "X-Men" put Marvel on the mainstream map for the first time, having built off the popularity of 1998's "Blade." Sam Raimi and Sony's "Spider-Man" took things to another level in 2002, and from there, it was off to the races. 20th Century Fox then followed 2003's "X2: X-Men United" with director Tim Story's "Fantastic Four," which became a solid hit for the studio. It also very nearly created a shared on-screen Marvel universe ... sort of.

Ioan Gruffudd portrayed Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic, in Story's 2005 adaptation of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's superheroic comic book family. Jessica Alba co-starred as Sue Storm,...

Speaking with Cbr's Sean O'Connell at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, alongside the creators and the rest of the cast of Strange New Worlds, Romijn shared the following advice about returning to a role years down the road: "I don't think it's a surprise to anybody that they do bring actors back in Star Trek. So be ready. My advice has always been to all young actors, this is a marathon, not a sprint. Create goodwill with the people you work with, you know?" Returning 'X-Men' Star, 52, Gives a Discouraging Update on 'Avengers: Doomsday'

It sounds like Avengers: Doomsday is still in flux — even as filming continues. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, X-Men alum Rebecca Romijn revealed that not only is she unsure whether her scenes as Mystique are complete, but the script for the massive Marvel crossover film still isn’t finished.

“[I'm] not quite sure [if Mystique's scenes have all been filmed]. They haven't finished writing it,” Romijn said, adding, “They keep everything close to the vest themselves in an effort to keep everything under wraps.”

Romijn, who originated the role of the mutant shapeshifter in X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, andFirst Class, returns alongside other legacy cast members like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, and Alan Cumming in what’s being billed as a multiversal epic.

'Superman' Overtakes One of the Greatest X-Men Disappointments at the Domestic Box Office
Image
Before directing X-Men: First Class, director Matthew Vaughn was hired as Bryan Singer's replacement on X-Men: The Last Stand; Singer went off to direct Superman Returns for Warner Bros. instead. Vaughn eventually dropped out of the project as well, and was replaced by the now-cancelled Brett Ratner. The Last Stand remains one ofthe least-liked installments of the original X-Men trilogy, which, in many ways, shaped modern superhero cinema. It was a hit, but it was also unusually expensive. The movie has now been overtaken by director James Gunn's less-than-two-week-old Superman at the domestic box office.

In just 10 days of release, Supermanhas grossed $236 million at the domestic box office, which puts it $2 million ahead of The Last Stand. Released in 2006, the X-Men film grossed $460 million worldwide, against a reported budget of $210 million. It was an extremely expensive film at the time, and didn't do nearly as well as it was expected to.

Marvel stars pose in 'first look' at upcoming Avengers and X-Men crossover
Image
It's no overstatement to say that Avengers: Doomsday is one of the most heavily-anticipated movies on the Hollywood calendar. The Marvel Cinematic Universe will have reached almost 40 movies by that point, but that hasn't stopped the juggernaut franchise from thrilling audiences time after time after time. People can't get enough of the MCU, and it continues to show.

Although the Marvel Studios franchise hit a bit of a stumbling block with some recent lacklustre titles (some of which struggled to match the heights of its glory days at the box office), some course-correcting has resulted in some of the very best titles in recent in memory. And it's all building towards the long-awaited Avengers: Doomsday, which will reunite the franchise's most iconic group of heroes.

Another reason that fans are particularly exicted for this one is that it will see the Avengers and the X-Men cross over for the first time ever.

'X-Men' Writer Reveals Answer to One Recurring Costume Question
Image
The 2000s X-Men helped kick off the modern era of superhero movies that audiences are still enjoying today. However, a significant point of contention for the film remains the decision to omit the team's colorful costumes in favor of black leather, a choice that is lampshaded in the movie when Cyclops quips, "What were you expecting, yellow spandex?" For an entire generation, the X-Men were known for their unified black leather outfits, ones that stood in sharp contrast to the uniforms in the comics, whose various styles and color palettes showed the multiple members' self-expression.

When asked by a fan on X about why the X-Men wore matching uniforms in the 2000 film, the movie's screenwriter, David Hayter, revealed the behind-the-scenes reason. Director Bryan Singer, who is not a comic book fan, could not get behind the team's more colorful costumes and their diverse styles. If not for the matching black leather uniforms,...

'Superman' Star Nicholas Hoult Has Disappointing View on Possible Beast Return in McU's 'Secret Wars'

Superman star Nicholas Hoult doesn't rule out returning to the Marvel Universe, though he didn't expect to return for Avengers: Secret Wars anyway. Before joining the Dcu, Hoult played the Marvel superhero Hank McCoy / Beast, starring in X-Men: First Class and continuing with X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, and finally in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. With Avengers: Doomsday bringing back many of the 20th Century Fox era X-Men characters, rumors circulated that it or the following film might include even more past X-Men cameos.

During the Vanity Fair lie detector interview with Superman co-star David Corenswet (via The Direct), Hoult was asked if taking on the role of Lex Luthor might have decreased his chances of reprising his role as Beast in Avengers: Secret Wars. Where did Nightcrawler go after X2? Mystery solved!
Image
Folks, I have a confession. While those who know me best might tell you that I’m something of an X-Men apologist who will give every film involving these characters more than a fair shake- The truth is that 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand is one of the most disappointing movies of my entire fanboy lifetime. I mean, there’s just too many questions I have every time I watch this film. Why did they rush the production and sacrifice the inclusion of some of their most popular characters? When is this distant future that looks awesome and then turns out to be a danger simulator? Which plot line should we be paying attention to most? Who is this movie for? And, of course, the biggest question I’m left with after watching X-Men: The Last Stand is… Where the hell is Nightcrawler?

See, after the release of X2: X-Men United...

Discussing Humanity, Stephen King, and the Night Knocker with the Cast and Crew of The Institute
Image
Based on Stephen King's 2019 novel of the same name, The Institute is opening its doors on MGM+ with a two-episode premiere this Sunday, July 13th at 9:00pm Et. And trust me, if you're a fan of King's endearingly complex characters and wondrous world-building, this is one King adaptation you don't want to miss.

Ahead of its anticipated premiere, Daily Dead had the great pleasure of talking with stars Joe Freeman, Ben Barnes, and Mary-Louise Parker, as well as executive producer/director Jack Bender and executive producer/writer Benjamin Cavell about the new series, including getting Stephen King's approval and having the legendary author involved as an executive producer, bringing the humanity of the emotional story to the screen, and the nostalgic small-town night knocker profession of Ben's character.

From executive producers Stephen King and Jack Bender (From), “The Institute” follows the story of teen genius Luke Ellis (Freeman...

Why The X-Men All Wear Matching Black Suits In The Original Marvel Movies Explained By Writer
Image
The writer of some of the best X-Menmovies has given a definitive answer on why the titular team wears matching black suits in the original Marvel franchise. The reasoning has been a long time coming, with the X-Men making their on-screen debut in said suits 25 years ago.

Since then, the X-Men have experienced a rollercoaster of a cinematic career. Following the critically acclaimed X2, one of the best superhero sequels ever made, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine painted a dismal picture for the future of the franchise. X-Men: First Class then corrected the X-Men's course, and with it came a new, more comics-accurate wardrobe.

A purely comics-accurate wardrobe would comprise a particularly colorful set of threads that helps each member to stand out. Wolverine is perhaps the most prominent with his yellow suit and winged helmet - something which Deadpool & Wolverine finally adapted in 2024. The pure-black...

X-Men actor casts doubts on return for Avengers 5

Nicholas Hoult has been on a roll in Hollywood. With starring roles in The Order, Juror #2, The Garfield Movie and Nosferatu, Hoult has showcased his great range and willingness to commit to every role.

That includes Lex Luthor, as Hoult will play Superman's iconic archenemy in James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie. This is a classic portrayal of Luthor as a billionaire genius, jealous of the public worshipping Superman and determined to destroy him solely for his own ego.

It's a huge boost for Hoult to play Lex Luthor, yet it's not his first experience with a comic book role. That would be Hank McCoy, a.k.a. the Beast, who Hoult first played in X-Men: First Class. He was playing the younger version of the character previously portrayed by Kelsey Grammer, who had debuted as the blue-furred mutant genius in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Hoult reprised the role for X-Men: Days of Future Past,...

Countdown on Prime Video: All Stars, Ranked by Their Biggest Project
Image
Amazon’s Countdown is packed with talent, and we’re not just talking about undercover skills. This high-stakes crime drama, created by Chicago Fire mastermind Derek Haas, dropped on Prime Video on June 25, 2025, and stars none other than Jensen Ackles as the cowboy-cool LAPD detective Mark Meachum.

From a Homeland Security murder to a city-wide conspiracy, the series throws Meachum onto a covert task force loaded with big names and even bigger credentials. But off-screen, these stars come with serious resumes. Ackles, of course, is fresh off The Boys and still beloved for Supernatural.

Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy), McSteamy himself, commands the task force as Agent Nathan Blythe. Jessica Camacho (All Rise), Violett Beane (God Friended Me), and Elliot Knight (Titans) round out a stacked federal squad. Add Young Rock’s Uli Latukefu and CSI: Miami alum Jonathan Togo, and the cast reads like a genre fan’s wishlist.

‘Superman’ Star, 35, Reveals If He’s Returning to the MCU
Image
Nicholas Hoult has been consistently giving us amazing characters that tug at our hearts. He played the titular character in Renfield, Thomas Hutter in Nosferatu, led Clint Eastwood’s underrated Juror #2, and next he’ll be playing Superman’s big bad Lex Luthor. However, the actor isn’t new to the comic book genre having played a younger version of Beast aka Frank McCoy in Fox X-Men movies, with the iconic mutant team returning to MCU fold with Avengers: Doomsday, its natural fans would want to see Hoult back as well given Kelsey Grammer, who played an older version of Beast already made a cameo in The Marvels and is set to return in the backdrop of the multiverse.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor was asked if he’d like to return as the character again, and he simply said, “No.” But he’s very excited...

Nicholas Hoult Had A Classy Reaction To Kelsey Grammer's Beast Return In The MCU
Image
While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has yet to fully introduce its own version of the X-Men, that's quickly coming. But before we head into reboot land with a new "X-Men" movie sometime after the Multiverse Saga ends, the mutants from the Fox era are getting the chance to say goodbye in next year's "Avengers: Doomsday." And among the actors getting one last bite at the apple is "Frasier" star Kelsey Grammer, who will once again portray Hank McCoy, aka Beast.

Nicholas Hoult, who played a younger version of Beast in films like "X-Men: First Class" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past," has now weighed in regarding the character's return in the MCU. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly while promoting James Gunn's "Superman" (in which he plays the villain Lex Luthor), Hoult expressed nothing but positivity regarding Grammer's portrayal of Beast. Here's what he had to say about it:

The 15 Worst Marvel Movies Ever Made, Ranked
Image
Marvel films existed long before the creation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which officially kicked off with 2008's "Iron Man." No, we're not just talking about the early 20th Century Fox features, either. Dating back to the early 1990s, the comic book titan has produced a substantial collection of motion pictures -- with decidedly mixed results. Early on, the studio struggled to connect with general audiences, resulting in ambitious box office misfires like the notorious "Howard the Duck," which failed to replicate the success of DC Comics' "Superman: The Movie" or "Batman."

Beginning in the late 1990s, however, Marvel found its footing with surprise hits like "Men in Black" and "Blade," paving the way for Bryan Singer's "X-Men" and Sam Raimi's hugely successful "Spider-Man" trilogy a few years later. Since then, the studio has produced nearly 40 films and created the famed MCU -- a franchise juggernaut that continues,...

X-men: 10 Biggest Mistakes 20th Century Fox Made With The Franchise That Marvel Studios Must Avoid
Image
The X-Men franchise launched in 2000 and was a game-changer in more ways than one. Not only did it kickstart Kevin Feige's Hollywood career, but it proved that superheroes could work on screen, ushering in the likes of Spider-Man and, eventually, Iron Man.

Following the Disney/Fox merger, Marvel Studios is tasked with rebooting the X-Men franchise, and that's obviously exciting for many reasons. However, 20th Century Fox did a lot wrong, and while the future is now looks bright, the past was full of mistakes.

It's those we're taking a look at today as we delve into some of the original X-Men franchise's biggest blunders. The hope now is that Marvel Studios won't repeat past mistakes when that reboot happens.

To take a look at the undeniable disasters the MCU must avoid, click the "Next"/"View List" buttons below.

The Big Bang Theory's Stuart Spin-Off Will Take The Franchise In An Unexpected Direction
Image
"The Big Bang Theory" is one of the most successful network sitcoms in the history of television, and, given that we're only six years removed from the end of its 12-season run, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the spin-off series are still coming. Though "Young Sheldon" concluded its run last year, the direct sequel, "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage," leapt right into the void to keep fans of the show engaged. Since all of these series have, thus far, been Nielsen ratings juggernauts, it makes sense that creator Chuck Lorre has decided to throw another spin-off into the mix. After all, if "All in the Family" could have multiple spin-offs running at the same time in the 1970s, why not see if fans will make time for one other show that takes place in this immensely popular universe?

The next series up should be "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,...

Marvel’s Most Important Love Story Might Never Happen in the MCU, And That Hurts
Image
The romance between T’Challa and Storm stands as one of Marvel Comics’ most iconic love stories, a union of power, legacy, and cultural weight that transcended the pages. Yet, this epic love story may never grace the silver screen with Chadwick Boseman’s tragic passing and Storm still absent from the MCU’s X-Men roster. The Black Panther and the Weather Goddess were monumental in the comics; their absence in live-action stings deeply, and whether Marvel could ever rekindle their spark remains uncertain.

In Marvel Comics, T’Challa, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in Fantastic Four #52 (1966), rules Wakanda as the Black Panther, a king wielding vibranium-fueled strength and unmatched intellect. Ororo Munroe, known as Storm, debuted in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (1975) by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum, rising from a Kenyan village to become an X-Men leader with the power to command storms.

Their romance, ignited in Black Panther #14 (2006) by Reginald Hudlin,...

Rory Kinnear in Men (2022)
X2: X-Men United ending explained: Death is not the end
Rory Kinnear in Men (2022)
Arguably, one of the most recognizable and popular Marvel comic book franchises is the X-Men. The world can be complicated, add to it the existence of both good and bad people with special abilities a.k.a. the mutants, and you have a story that continues to thrill, enamor, and entertain audiences.

The X-Men comprised of two sides: Charles Xavier / Professor X's team of mutants who seek to protect humanity, and Magneto's acolytes hellbent on controlling the human race. Each mutant had a unique name, ability, personality, and design.

As popular as these characters were, they wouldn't arrive on the big screen until the 2000 film X-Men. Regardless of the differences in the story from the original source material, including costume changes, this film put X-Men in a whole new light, perhaps becoming the catalyst for the superhero films that followed. Starring Hugh Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen,...

Speed (1994) will always be one of those movies that you will want to root for the main characters, despite their love story not being the center focus of the film. Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves’ chemistry was off the charts, and when they finally returned for an actual romance film a few years later, it was as if they were blessing the entertainment industry.

Rumor: Marvel Studios Has Some Exciting Plans For Magneto's Base In Avengers: Doomsday
Image
During Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal, it was confirmed that Sir Ian McKellen will reprise his role as Magneto in the long-awaited Multiverse Saga finale.

The actor first played the Master of Magnetism in 2000, and continued to do so until 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. When the latter was released, he shared the role with Michael Fassbender, but it's hardly surprising that Kevin Feige is bringing back the Og Magneto.

While the villain has been front and centre in just about every X-Men movie, whether those did him justice is another matter altogether. X-Men: The Last Stand succeeded in showing what Magneto could do when he let loose with his powers, and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants...well, the group often left fans wanting more.

We'd bet on that changing in Avengers: Doomsday, and a new rumour suggests Magneto resides in a castle in the movie. The...

‘Lilo & Stitch’ Box Office Mayhem: All the Records Broken as Pic Zooms Past $400M Globally
Image
Talk about threading the needle perfectly.

A week ago, no one could have imagined that Disney’s live-action reimagining Lilo & Stitch would make box office history and open to a record-breaking $182.6 million during the four-day Memorial Day weekend, including $146 million for the three days. Overseas, the live-action redux of the 2002 animated film about a Hawaiian girl and mischievous, dog-like alien also exceeded all expectations in starting off with $178.6 million for a global start of $361.2 million against a net budget of $100 million.

The pic is adding another milestone to its list today as it crosses the $400 million mark globally, including $200 million domestically in its sixth day in release — more than the total lifetime runs of some live-action Disney reimaginings. It’s already out-grossed the entire $273.1 million global of run of 2002’s animated Lilo & Stitch, not adjusted for inflation. To boot, it’s pacing ahead of Warner Bros.’ blockbuster A Minecraft Movie,...

Jason Statham’s Franchise-Starting Classic Finds a New Streaming Home
Image
As we head into the month of June, Peacock is inviting subscribers to enjoy a heavy dose of high-octane action, as the Jason Statham favorite, The Mechanic, is set for a streaming release. The title will fall in line with numerous other favorites on NBCUniversal’s platform beginning on June 1. This is the perfect opportunity for those who haven’t yet taken the dive into the Statham-led series of films to jump into the action and see what it’s all about. With a 54% critics’ approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s obvious that the movie was a divisive production upon its theatrical arrival in 2011, but given that it eventually received a sequel just a few years later, there’s certainly still plenty to love for the Statham fans out there.

In The Mechanic, Statham stars as Arthur Bishop, a professional hitman known as a “mechanic” who has the uncanny...
