      The Best Indian Comedy Ever

This is probably the most hilarious non-stop nonsense ever made. 'Peecha Karo' is the most under-rated film in the Indian film history. The story is very simple but very funny. Amjad khan is a Brigadier. He has a young daughter who is in love with Farooq Sheikh (Vijay). Vijay is an engineer but his father Rajendar Nath (Kandha Ram) sells 'Mayyat Ka Saman', wears a 'Patte Wala Underwear' and make philosophical statements like 'Arjun Se Krishn Ne Ramayan Main Kaha Tha Kee Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana Yahan Kal Kya Hoga Kisne Jana'. Hari and Giri are two detectives psychos who used to work for brigadier and were thrown out of the army because of their erratic behavior. They are always behind Brigadier as they think that he is selling some important documents to Pakistani agent Boss no 1(Anupam Kher). They blackmail Vijay to become Brigadier's 'Ghar Damad' so that he can spy on him more closely.

There are so many sequences in the film which are just hilarious and mind blowing. Scene where Farukh Shaikh disguises as his own father is the second most comical scene ever pictured in the history of Indian cinema. The first in the list is obviously 'Mahabharat' scene from 'Jane Bhee Do Yaron'. The Scene is just magical. In the middle of the conversation between Amjad Khan and Farukh Shaikh another track follows where Rajender Nath comes to know about his son's affair and he walks in. Amjad khan says 'Ek Vijay Ka Baap Mere Saamne Baitha Ye Dusra Kahan Se Aa Raha Hai' and Rajendar Nath coolly says 'Main Dukan Se Aa Raha Hoon' and 'Agar Tum Brigadier Ho To Main Bhi Fire Brigade Walon Ko Janta Hoon'. The climax of 'Andaz Apna Apna' is very obviously inspired by the climax of this film. It is one of those films where every single statement is funny. All actors are exceptional. Satish Shah and Ravi Vaswani as 'Giri Hari Dhara' and 'Hari Giri Dhara' are just too much. Every time they do something normal they go back to their nonsensical characters by saying 'Country First'. I'm a big Rajendar Nath fan and this I think is his best role. I find it better than 'Hanuman' in 'Jhuk Gaya Asman' but thats debatable. Dialogues between Amjad Khan and Sudhir are damn funny like 'Bakwaas Kartein Hain Woh Log' and 'Duniya Kee Sabse Khufiya Jagah'. Anupam Kher is very good as Boss No 1. My favorite dialogs are 'Shakespeare Ne Menka Se Kaha Tha "Nach Meri Bulbul Tujhe Paisa Milega"' and conversation which starts with Sathish Shah saying 'Ye Baamboo Kitne Ka Hai?' and ends in Rajendar Nath saying 'Jaate Ho Ya Bamboo Doon?'.

I remember we watched this film in the video era where each family used to finance one film each and everyone watched 3 films on Saturday with Chai and 'biskoot' in 100 Rs. We watched 2 films that day. 'Khoon Bharee Mang' and this one. After KBM we were a little skeptical about this film as the lobby became very women oriented and comedy films are not generally favored at such occasions. Still we played this film and in 10 minutes we stopped the VCR as all of us were rolling on the floor. I still cant forget that I actually opened the door came out of the building and laughed my guts out. The only other time we laughed like this was when we watched 'Bakra Quishton pay'. I rented this film so many times that the person who owned it finally gave it to me saying 'you paid more than half the price of the tape'.If I could I would give all the film fares and Oscar to this film. There is no way any director can make a film of this caliber. Its a film which will be discovered by future generations. In the list of comedies like 'Andaz Apna Apna', 'Angoor', 'Golmaal', 'Chupke-Chupke' etc this movie is the best of all. I really mean it. To me the best Indian comedy has always been 'Peecha Karo' and will always be 'Peecha Karo'.

      The Best Hindi Comedy

I am and have always been a fierce critic of the Indian Film Industry, shamelessly called 'Bollywood' and especially the 'comedy' genre. But this film is different, its simple and funny. It's nothing like an 'Indian Comedy'.

To me 'Peecha Karo' is the funniest Hindi film I have ever seen. It doesn't use crude double-entendres or vulgar jokes. It's funny. It is a testament to the scriptwriters who sat down and worked on their craft and produced a Master-piece. This film is up there with the greats like Monty Python et al.

If you ever come across this film..call me and then sit down with your friends and watch it.

      good effort

This movie starts of great ,however fizzes a bit off towards the end. By that I would mean, the gags get dried off towards the end. I have to admit the first 30-45 minutes are absolutely hilarious and there are a few better ranking gags afterwards but the pace dies definitely off.Good effort by the filmmakers, as not everyone in the mainstream digs these kind of comedies. I don't think the film was a hit since none of the producers except surinder singh[ there were half a dozen producers] ever again ventured into film making after this episode. sad that they were not encouraged at all ,but that's not strange since bollywood audience were and are, not good in grasping efforts.

Ravi Baswani was very critical of Pankaj Parashar's film Ab Ayega Mazaa. He did not like the film. What was amazing was that he signed Peecha Karo with the same director.
