Lovesick

Two Cambodian Americans discover love and each other just when their lives take an emotional nose dive. Rang has just lost his mother, a year after losing his father. Left to raise and mentor his wayward younger brother, he maintains traditional Khmer values of honor and family. Bopha dropped out of college to work at her family's cafe. She learned over dinner that she has become engaged to Veansa, a man she never met via an arrangment between their parents. Rang spots Bopha on the streets of Chinatown one evening, love at first sight and tries to follow but loses her in a crowd. Weeks later as Bopha is about to pump gas into her car, Rang spots her again asks her out for coffee. They begin an innocent friendship because she immediately tells him that she is "taken." Rang sends Bopha calla lillies every day until she calls him. Slowly love deepens between the two. Family honor thwarts the lovers from getting together. Family tragedy changes their direction and attention.

The story was somewhat good but the acting was awful. Dude...someone was beating up air for goodness sake. The Khmer folks that were acting...whenever they speak they sound like they are reading from a card. They had no emotions in their acting. Especially the mother in the movie. When she was "suppose" to get mad she sounded too sweet.

There were parts in the movie that they should've cut out. Some didn't make sense and were wasting our time. The writing was not good at all. The directing was nothing spectacular. It did not begin well and it did not end well.

Don't bother fixing your television or your glasses when you see the movie going blurry. It's just the movie.

I'm just saying they had a good idea that they did not successfully accomplish.

AND OH YAH! What's with the Cambodian guys saying "MAN!" What's with them guys acting gangster in their khakis?! IT Doesn't LOOK RIGHT! But then again...I guess it was a pretty good film for it possibly being super low budget.
