    silly wabbit

Kottentail is a low-budget horror that is intentionally very cheezy. Many of the scene transitions are accomplished with a video effect that makes the screen look like a comic book complete with caption. The rabbit at the testing facility is a stuffed bunny rabbit, not a real stuffed rabbit even, but a cutesy one. It moves by a string or by the camera cutting away. Poking further fun at that is the fact that they said the rabbit freaked out at the sight of a stuffed rabbit, an even cutesier one. There's a security guard with an inked-on beard. Several characters have phony accents. At least one person plays two roles.

The film takes place around Easter, so if you're looking for an Easter holiday horror movie, this is one of the few.

Most of the women are large-breasted and show a lot of cleavage, dressing down to their underwear on several occasions. One shot of nudity appears to have been taken from another movie, though there is a pre-shower scene where the nudity isn't a double. Oddly, one sex scene has the woman dressed in a white terrycloth robe.

One of the best horror/comedies ever made

It's not often that an independent film can make me laugh until tears roll down my cheeks but that's exactly what happened as I watched Kottentail. The film begins with a beautiful, buxom, blonde scientist doing some experiments on a laboratory rabbit. Later that night two PETA wannabe's decide to do their good deed and break into the labs, releasing the tortured animals. When they get there all they find is the aforementioned rabbit, and they do set it free. Just like in any good horror movie, the rabbit soon attacks someone(an immigrant farmer), who then begins to undergo an odd transformation. Excellent jokes, gore and hijinx ensue.

What really makes this movie work is a fantastic screenplay. It doesn't rely on fart jokes and gross out scenes to affect the viewer, if gives us an odd assortment of memorable characters and puts them in a crazy situation that they fight to survive. It perfectly plays off the horror movie stereotypes but still manages to surprise you. I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, Kottentail is one of the best horror/comedies ever made. If you're a fan of B movies and are willing to overlook a low budget, you must add this one to your collection because you'll want to watch it over and over again.

Horror comedy that works as it does not take itself too seriously

A couple of animal activist's free a rabbit from a research facility. The rabbit attacks Hans Kottentail and he begin's to attack people. The animal activist's team up with a scientist, a police woman and a sorority girl to defeat the rabbit.

Well, this set's out to be different and this is obvious when at the very beginning of the film the rabbit is shown. I do not want to spoil this, so will not describe the rabbit here. At first I was scratching my head thinking "what the heck", but by the end thought that this set the tone for the film nicely.

All of the characters seem to be having fun and all the women in the film provide something nice to look at. All dress in sexy bunny outfits to lure the killer bunny-man at the end.

I liked the style of the film and the animated comic book sequences added to the feel of the film.

Is this the first every Easter horror? Take it in the spirit of an indie production that is not to be taken seriously and you should come away with some laughs and entertainment value.

    A cheesy good time

While doing extensive testing on rabbits, a scientist finds that the accidentally-released rabbit from her lab has turned a local farmer into a deformed half-man/half-rabbit killer and must team up with a group of sorority sisters doing their local hazing to stop it from continuing its rampage.

This one had some really nice moments in it. One of the main assets to the film is it's uber-cheesy and incredibly fake atmosphere where nothing that happens in here is ever played for realism. This isn't a movie that needs to be taken seriously and is quite easy to make of, as the effects are quite fake from the plush rabbit obviously being pulled around on strings or using a form of quick-cut editing to make it move around to the killer creature, the cheap-looking sets and the comic-book style editing structure to jump around to different areas throughout the town, there's an energy and momentum carried throughout by it doesn't really make it a boring film to sit through, and that's one of the film's greatest assets. The plot is ridiculous, the situations fair better by not that much, and it's an enjoyable experience for it. This really does give it some uniquely comical scenes and lines as well, another big plus. With the way the action is set up, it has a couple of little suspense scenes built into this one, from the first attack on the tenet checking on a peeper, him taking out the bullies on the playground and the fun surprise attack on the cops in the woods investigating one of the earlier deaths which are rather fun. A strong massacre on the workers setting up for an Easter Egg hunt makes for a nice scene, and the ambush on the sorority house features some fun with the creature appearing behind the unbelieving member which is an overused cliché but it works in the scene and sets up the final chase through the sorority house. The last assault on the creature is it's best parts as the dwindled group is forced to defeat the creature on its home ground and it results in some nice action scenes. The conclusion in the barn is really good, providing some suspense and a great twist with the creature to end it on a good note. Along with some nice low-budget gore, these here are the film's good parts. There isn't much wrong with it, but what is can really be traced to the fake that the film is just cheesy and not to be taken seriously. The effects aren't hidden that they're fake, and the fact that it's not that hard to do so may be a turn-off to those who want their films to be taken seriously. The creature does look pretty ridiculous and really looks nothing like a rabbit except for the ears, and whenever it's on-screen it doesn't inspire any terror. The fact that it actually hops around like a rabbit just inspires uncontrolled laughter rather than abject terror in the killer entity, but it blends in with the fact that film is a cheese-fest and doesn't really try to be serious. The film isn't bad, but if you can't stand the cheese, this will be a chore to get through as the low-budget nature of the film does hinder this due to the cheap feel and sound throughout here. That ends up lowering this more than anything as these here become the film's biggest problems.

Rated UN/R: Graphic Language, Nudity, Graphic Violence and a mild, clothed sex scene.

Catacomb of Creepshows 20 (of 50) or Lets hop to it

After two ditsy girls free an experimental bunny from a scientist's lab, it bites a lonely German immigrant who in turn turns into a man-sized killer bunny rabbit. It's up to five nubile vixens to save the day.

Very purposely cheesy & younger-in-cheek, this film charmed me from the get go. I enjoyed most of the gags and actually found myself caring about what happened next. So if you're ever in the mood for a cheesy Easter-themed horror film with killer bunnies and comic book transitions than this is one of the best of those movies. And most definitely one of the standout titles in the Catacomb box-set

Eye Candy: Patricia Bellemore and Noel Francomano show T&A, Heather Darling & Zoe Hunter Lee both get topless.
