Out of the Theatre and On The Road

The Children's Theater Company of Minneapolis shot the staged production on location in Minnesota. The story is based on the classic children's novel. It was adapted for the stage and later this production is shot outdoors. The lovely Julee Cruise played Elspeth Grahame, the wife and mother, who brings a picnic. Her husband, Kenneth Grahame tells the story to a captive audience. The costumes and makeup are a bit outdated by today's standards. I had trouble following the story myself about the animals a bit. This novel is adapted for younger audiences. The film last about 90 minutes which is about the right time. The story is fine.
