    One more mexican failure

It never ends. It seems that México it´s nothing but a chain of movies that in the end no one cares about, only because they're so bad. Sin ton ni Sonia is one of the latest examples in that matter. It goes nowhere, it's plot is full of characters without charisma or intensity who think acting is based just on say correctly their dialogues. Of course there are some good mexican films 'cause there are alway exceptions to the rule, but leave this one out of that category. The lack of passion is more than evident in this motion picture which plot is fueled by absurdity and basic nonsense, and even if they look for make a relaxed statement in comedy, it falls real short to accomplish that.

Sin ton ni Sonia is full of cliché and formulaic ways to resolve it's many events. Don´t watch it unless you're willing to hate mexican cinema or waste a couple hours.

    Easy joke

"Sin ton ni Sonia" a film by Carlos Sama it's a comedy that is a mixture between "Sólo con tu pareja" and "Sexo, pudor y lágrimas". "Sin ton ni Sonia" is funny to droughts, here the critic of the journal Mural (very smaller brother of Reforma and El Norte) it destroyed it, and it is not for as much, I am sure that if had been a foreign or European comedy they had treated better it. In which yes I agree with the writing is not strong in multiple parallel stories that raise, and in wanting to us to make laugh in each short while by it resorts it to the easy joke and the stereotype. In short, surely it will be the Mexican comedy of the year, since it counts on "magnets of ticket office" like Juan Manuel Bernal and Cecilia Suárez, and if the spectator goes with the idea to spend a good short while thus will be.

Not good in any way... but there are worse.

I didn't have much expectations about this movie, so I guess it was a good deal paying half the ticket price on a wednesday for a few laughs.

"Sin ton ni sonia" goes nowhere. It has tons of characters with very different backgrounds and situations. They try to give a lot of time to each of them, but in the end you realize they weren't needed that much. At least not in so much detail. We get dubbers, police men (mexican and american), physics, telepaths, organs-traffic dealers, hackers, and much more. I bet by now you're saying "What the...", and yes, that's just what I thought as I was watching the movie.

As I said, too many characters and for nothing. In the end things are just left the way they were in the beginning. In the end nothing happened. In the end you can't help but think "What? That's it?"

Maybe they just tried too hard. In Mexico there's more budget to film commercials than to make movies; is that simple. Mexican filmmakers, and the audience, are tied to that and must rely on good writing (which this movie totally lacks) for a movie to succeed.

If you are at the theater entrance trying to decide on what to see, you can leave this one as the last option. Don't worry, you won't miss anything.

    Good but daft

My cousin bought me this DVD that he found in the bargain bin - he knows I like my Spanish language cinema so I went home and watched it. It is about the lives of young, hip city dwellers in Mexico City - there isn't a linear storyline as such but I still managed to follow it to its conclusion.

The best part of the film is the song by Los Dug's Dugs 'Felicidad' what a tune that is.

I watched this at a time of my life that was about to change for the better and which continues today so it gets a high rating. I don't suppose that is a good reason to give this film a nine-out-of-ten-stars but it is worth a watch - don't expect a linear storyline because there isn't one.
