Brosnan is best known for playing James Bond in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and has since starred in numerous thrillers. The actor is an underrated action star whose Bond persona has overshadowed much of his other work. He has played the lead along with several other stars in thrillers since the ‘80s, which are all rewatchable for various reasons.

Chat Pile have teamed up with finger-picking guitar maestro Hayden Pedigo for a new collaborative album, In the Earth Again, arriving on Halloween (October 31st).
The collab is a pairing of Oklahoma underground talent, as heard on the lead single “Radioactive Dreams.” Pedigo’s atmospheric guitarwork guides the beginning of the song, offering his fans a rare chance to hear his musical stylings with lyrics via Chat Pile frontman Raygun Busch. Pierce Brosnan is best known for his stint as James Bond, playing the iconic secret agent in four films from 1995 to 2002 – GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day. Though he's best known for Bond, Brosnan has played several other roles in his nearly 50-year career.
The Irish actor first gained fame through the TV series Remington Steele (1982–1987). After the show ended, he appeared in the popular comedy Mrs. Doubtfire (1993). After his breakthrough as Bond, he had starring roles in high-profile films such as the disaster thriller Dante's Peak (1997) and the stylish remake of The Thomas Crown Affair (1999).
Post-Bond, Brosnan remained active in film, taking on diverse roles in hits like Mamma Mia! (2008) and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010). He later portrayed Doctor Fate in Black Adam (2022). Beyond blockbuster films, Brosnan earned critical praise for his earlier work in Nancy Astor (1982) and...

Netflix recently added one of the best horror films of the decade in Barbarian. If you survived that onslaught to the senses, we've got three more horrifying tales for you.
A quick note: like Barbarian, all three of these films are led by strong women, both the characters and actresses. So if you're the incel-type with mommy issues, you might want to stay safe with your Jason and Freddy fantasies. The adults will be watching these.
As in director Zach Cregger's startling debut film, all three of these films feature women who are thrown into the role of the victim, but (no spoilers) attempt to fight their way through the grisly events they face. A side note: for certain bloggers. I see this all too often. "Grizzly" refers to a type of bear. "Grisly" is derived from the Old English "grislic", meaning horrible. And horrible fates await in all three of these films.

Paramount+ is going all-in on its critically acclaimed British crime drama “MobLand.”
Revealed to Variety exclusively, the company is launching an ambitious Emmy campaign that surprisingly places both Tom Hardy and Pierce Brosnan in the running for lead drama actor. The decision to push Brosnan as a co-lead — rather than a supporting contender as many had assumed — is one of several surprising moves in the streamer’s Emmy strategy.
Helen Mirren, meanwhile, will compete for supporting drama actress, avoiding a head-to-head clash with her own work in “1923,” Taylor Sheridan’s Western drama, where she is considered a possible contender for lead drama actress.
Created by Ronan Bennett, “MobLand” centers on Harry Da Souza (Hardy), a fixer for the powerful London-based Harrigan crime family, led by Conrad (Brosnan) and Maeve Harrigan (Mirren). As rival gangs threaten the family’s empire, Harry is tasked with maintaining control and preventing a full-scale war.

MobLand is a rich Cockney crime drama—as if a bunch of Tiny Tims grew up carrying brass knuckles, chips on their shoulders, and East End swagger, delivering brutal blows and backroom brawls that always spill into the streets, sending a message to all: look the other way if you know what’s good for you, or we will beat the curiosity out of you.
Ritchie infuses the series with his signature style and attitude—like chewing shards of glass—gritty, razor-sharp, and full of roguish charm that’s impossible to ignore. It helps when you have a deep bench of actors that create the best cast this year.
That includes Tom Hardy, who is menacingly magnetic and brutally authentic.

Despite a litany of streaming services out there to choose from, the only surefire way to have immediate access to a film is to own it yourself. But with companies like Best Buy getting rid of their Physical Media departments, collecting has become more and more niche. This is a shame because I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve gone to JustWatch and discovered the movie I was looking for wasn’t streaming Anywhere. And even worse when we go to find a copy and discover that it’s not even available to own physically! I’ve never heard of a company refusing to make money, but we’ve seen it time and time again in the movie industry.
As a big fan of the Scream franchise, I set out to collect all of the 4K Steelbooks for the franchise. Hell, I even imported the second one from Europe.

Pierce Brosnan is a stowaway in Collider's exclusive sneak peek of the actors upcoming film, The Last Rifleman. Tossing on some aging prosthetics, The Matador star appears in the Terry Loane-helmed production as Artie Crawfod, a WWII veteran who is spending his twilight years as a resident at a care home in Northern Ireland. Reeling from the very recent loss of his wife, Artie is itching to break away from the everyday humdrum that has become his regular routine. With the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings on the horizon, Artie spots an opportunity to relive some of his most memorable days and makes a break for it, traveling to France to salute his fallen friends one last time. Based on a true story, The Last Rifleman promises plenty of heartfelt moments mixed with light-hearted comedy and a side helping of drama.

Pierce Brosnan will always be best known for playing James Bond in Golden Eye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and more, but his career has spanned decades, genres, and scales, appearing in countless other classics, including Mrs. Doubtfire, Mamma Mia, The Thomas Crown Affair, and Mars Attacks! to name a few. Now Brosnan takes another entirely unique turn in The Last Rifleman, a true story about Bernard Jordan, the WW2 Veteran who escaped from a senior living home to pay tribute to the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings. Below the surface of the story lies an investigation of the men Brosnan says were, "wrenched and thrown into gunfire and death."
The character Artie Crawford is loosely based on Jordan, and Brosnan "ages up" about 20 years. The transformation into this older man haunted by his past, the loss of his wife, and the passage of time is rendered masterfully by Brosnan in...

The Last Rifleman is one of those films from a genre I have often described as “a movie.” It was made for that lazy Sunday afternoon that makes you appreciate what you have or long for what you don’t. This British war drama, which Sky Films has finally dusted off, is now allowing the rest of the world to see it. This is welcomed because The Last Rifleman is a good genre picture.
That’s because Terry Loane’s (In the Land of Saints and Sinners) The Last Rifleman has a bevy of quality messaging that also happens to be highly entertaining. Along with a touching central performance from a well-known movie star and some cameos from the late John Amos in his last film role, it’s a movie experience that is funny, moving, and, above all else, satisfying.

He's a killer, an alcoholic, and a womanizer no, Pierce Brosnan is not James Bond. He is, unfortunately, Julian Noble, a hot mess of a hitman who kills for a living, but is also killing his soul in the process. The Matador is an excellent black comedy that spares no punches in its sick humor or amusing bromance between Brosnan's character and the always-endearing Greg Kinnear. A sharp, fast-paced 90-minute crime caper, The Matador slipped under the radar with Brosnan's jarring transformation from the suave 007 to a vulgar killer, and it is absolutely debaucherous fun.

Pierce Brosnan's role in The Matador showcases his comedic acting chops in a dark crime comedy with Greg Kinnear. Brosnan's departure from his suave James Bond image to play a flawed character earned him critical acclaim. The actor played a crucial role in shaping the physical appearance and emotional depth of his character in the film.
Landing a high-profile role like James Bond can be a blessing and a curse. Look no further than Pierce Brosnan, the sixth actor tapped to play the famous MI6 Secret Service Agent behind Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, and Timothy Dalton. Brosnan portrayed the dashing intelligence agent in four Bond films between 1994 and 2004, resulting in a decade of popular exposure and confining typecast. One year after Brosnan took off the tux, the Irish actor delivered arguably his freest, funniest, and most well-rounded performance in a little movie called The Matador.

Seraphim Falls strongly suggests Angelica Huston's character, Madame Louise, might be the Devil in disguise. Another demonic character, Charon, makes an appearance in Seraphim Falls, further hinting at a supernatural element in the story. Seraphim Falls draws inspiration from the film Angel Heart, where the main character discovers that a supporting character is actually the Devil.
Western drama Seraphim Falls leaves a big hint that one supporting player is the Devil. The late-'00s found Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson in interesting places, careerwise. The former had been dropped as James Bond following Die Another Day and was trying to figure out his star persona outside the franchise. This led to some wildly entertaining Pierce Brosnan movies like The Matador and, of course, Mamma Mia. After playing a series of mentor roles in films such as Kingdom of Heaven or Batman Begins, Neeson was reborn as an action star thanks to 2008's Taken.

One of the great things about working for JoBlo is that, over the years, I’ve had the pleasure to speak with some of my heroes. Being a child of the eighties, I tend to be most fascinated by the people I grew up watching. So, speaking to Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson and the great Don Johnson have consistently ranked with my fondest moments here with the site. Of course, one of the guys I’ve always wanted to talk to was the great Pierce Brosnan.
Given that I’m the guy behind James Bond Revisited, one could easily imagine why he was a bucket list interview of mine. However, beyond his work as 007, I’m still a fan, particularly of his movie The Matador, one of my favorites. Pierce has a new film out the week called Fast Charlie, which features him once again playing a hitman who’s...

Rebel Wilson is getting ready to serve as the star of “Double Fault,” a tennis comedy in development at Paramount Players.
Jim and Brian Kehoe, the brothers who wrote the 2019 high school comedy “Blockers,” are in talks to pen the screenplay. The logline is being kept under wraps.
“Double Fault” will be produced by Wilson and Todd Garner (“Senior Year”), with Brad Jenkel (“The Matador”) on board as executive producer.
Wilson recently starred in Netflix’s teen comedy “Senior Year,” in which she played a 37-year-old who wakes up from a coma and returns to high school to get her diploma.
In Variety’s review of “Senior Year,” Dennis Harvey praised Wilson as “a naturally gifted comedian” who pulls together the movie “through sheer force of personality and riffing performance chops.”
Prior to “Senior Year,” Wilson hadn’t starred in a movie since 2019’s “Isn’t It Romantic,” a romantic comedy that parodies stereotypical Hollywood meet-cutes.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has been kinder through the years to Joaquin Phoenix than the Academy Awards voters have. While the former child star has been nominated three times for an Oscar for his performances in 2000’s historical epic “The Gladiator,” 2005’s musical biopic “Walk the Line” and 2012’s religious cult drama “The Master,” he has yet to take home a little gold man.
But the international journalists who decide who wins the Golden Globes nominated Phoenix for those efforts as well as two comedic roles in 2013’s “Her” and 2014’s “Inherent Vice.” This year, he is once again caught in the heat of competition as the favorite to win Best Film Drama Actor, according to Gold Derby’s combined user odds for his incredibly committed, sympathetic and disturbing interpretation of Batman’s smirking arch nemesis in the comic-book-inspired summer blockbuster “Joker.”

It’s punishment more than practice that makes “The Perfection,” which is less a horror film per se than a grisly yet upscale grand guignol melodrama. Richard Shepard’s very tricky suspense film, co-written with the TV writing-producing team of Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder, has been a success for Netflix. The streaming service released the film earlier this year, picking it up after it made a stir at Fantastic Fest 2018.
The tale of classical musicianship and elaborate revenge is easier to admire than actually like, given somewhat repellent content grounded in character psychology that does not bear close scrutiny after these terse 90 minutes are over. Still, the icily well-crafted gamesmanship Shepard and company have devised certainly makes that time pass quickly, if uncomfortably.
The director has turned mostly to small-screen work since his last theatrical feature, “Dom Hemingway” (2013), including a dozen episodes of “Girls,” whose Allison Williams plays the lead here.
