    Endgame OU 1989 version

This version of Endgame was the first one I saw, and I think that it is spot-on, especially Norman Beaton as Hamm. Good also to see Charlie Drake in a 'serious' role, the first and only time I've seen him do serious acting, I think.

The whole cast really brought out the hopelessness of the situation, without disregarding the comedy value of some situations in the play - especially Beckett's particular use of words and language - it really covers the whole range of what can be done with this work.

I had it on video, recorded from the Open University course, but lost the tape in a house-move. I would dearly like to get another copy, if anyone knows if it is still available...

      Hamm: What didn't you know?

      Nagg: That it'd be you.
