This show is not very good. The major flaw is that the host's 'unique' brand of humour isn't mainstream enough to engage a mainstream audience. I went to a live taping in Las Vegas and it wasn't much better watching live. Rita Rudner seems to be a really nice lady but the show only occasionally engages your interest for the full half hour. A new more mainstream format and some more famous guests may keep the show going a bit longer although the the lack of budget is painfully obvious so any revamp would be unlikely. 2/5
I saw this show on Chicago's ABC affiliate at 2:00am. At that time of the night/morning, Rita's articulate semi-funny shtick is not half bad. True, if her show could get better guests, this show might actually last a second season.
Rita Rudner's humor is an acquired taste. This talk show attempt was filmed in her adopted hometown of Las Vegas and it never made it off the ground because they always stuck her show in some late night time slot and never advertised it. I would have liked it to have been given a chance. Rita Rudner is a funny and smart woman. She doesn't have the vulgarity in her act in Las Vegas or Sin City. She does have a sense of dry, sarcastic humor but she is a personality that is likable. She loves to do stand-up and having a talk show in the age of too many all at once. I didn't get to see her act in Las Vegas but she sells out and she has entertained the President Barack Obama and thousands and maybe millions of others. I would like to see Rita get another shot but I don't think her heart was into it.
