      The Chase

Louise Fazenda goes to work as a maid. Her employers are crooks who have kidnapped aristocratic Sidney Smith. They force him to invite his rich friends to a party so they can take their jewelry.

Miss Fazenda is present to center the comedy, and to lead them in a Keystone Kops sort of chase that goes on for a while. While the technical side of the movie is up to date for 1924, a lot of the gags seem to emerge from about 1915. There's lots of wirework, and it's quite amusing.

      Routine silent comedy.

Formula two reel comedy with Louis Fazenda in comic outfit failing to gain acceptance at Palm Beach, where the fish in her washed out in the tide shoe attracts a seal. Her hard case dad sends her off to apply for a maid's job in a mansion, (pull out bath gag) which turns out to be the headquarters of a gang who abduct a toff to invite his society friends to the reception, where the lights go off and they are robbed. Louise recovers the jewelry starting a horse-car-launch chase with the crooks the toffs and the cops all falling in the water.

Elaborate but not very funny gags.Short on characterisation with the star having little to work with.

Dizzy Daisy was pretty funny based on many of the gags shown

Just watched this obscure silent comedy short on a one-disc DVD set called Female Comediennes. This one stars Louise Fazenda who is first seen going to the beach putting some socks on her feet but not before something enters one of them which results in some comic motion. Then she arrives at home where her dad shows an ad for a maid. She becomes one at a mansion and finds out some men are planning to steal some jewels. What results is a chase involving her, them, some cops, and the other party goers. I'll just say this was quite a funny short even though there's no real logic much of the time.
