Thank god for the right analog stick.

OK just be warned that I love seeing hot girls in bikinis. So when they made this game I was pretty excited. Especially since the girls of DOA are in it and they are all hot.

You play volleyball on the beach. The more you win by the more money you get. You then use the money to buy new items like swimsuits, visors, hats, etc. Also the person you partner with gives you gifts at times and so does Zack.

I couldn't care less about the volleyball. It can be fun, but it is all about the girls. My favorite is Tina. You can go to different places on Zack Island and just watch the character you are playing as sit around in their stunning beauty. If you use the right analog stick you can get a better view of the character, if you get my drift. Also there is a nudity cheat out there but it is really hard to do.

Sorry for the lameness of this review. THe volleyball itself is OK. But it is all about the hot girls in bikinis. Tina is the hottest video game character EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Play it if you are a guy.

    MANY HAVE MIXED OPINIONS

Like many I pre-ordered this game --but-- unlike may I pre-ordered it before i knew what it was (all i knew that it was a DOA series game) and after the 13months of waiting and delays the day came and When I played it using my favourite character I couldn't stop smiling

this game doesn't have a really strong story line but its humours but the graphics are so real thats it sometimes scary sound effects and video clip are great and if you can't stand the spice girls get rid of them by taking over the radio station and play some slipknot or killswitch engage

If you are a die hard dead or alive fan and followed it since 1995 (USA) or 1996 (AUS) You will no the MOVIE hits USA cimeas early 2004 and 2 more DOA games are coming DOA cronus DOA 4

Great game! (could be a bit better though)

I pre-ordered this game, and I am not at all dissapointed by it! It's great! Quick overview:

After the intro movie, you choose a girl to go on the island vacation with. Once you meet Lisa, she takes you on a tour of the island and after a bit of exploring she takes you to your first volleyball match. After that you head back to the hotel where you can store items or swimsuits you collect/buy, visit the casino (slots, blackjack, poker, roulette, etc), or you can go to bed for the next day.

The days are divided in three segments, morning, daytime, evening, and you can spend your days doing what you want. Sitting by the pool, lounging around the beaches or jungles, or play a fun mini-game in the pool for extra cash (in addition to the cash earned in the Volleyball games). You can visit the islands several stores and browse for neat accessories or trinkets, even more swimsuits or clothing.

The volleyball is a bit dumbed down, but is still alot of fun once you get into it and learn the controls. The AI difficulty of the other girls changes as you play, the more you beat them the more they learn and the harder it gets, but if you lose alot, they ease back a little.

A large portion of the game is geared towards collecting items, clothing and accessories, but it doubles as a nice way of convincing other girls to like you and join your team for volleyball matches. If they like you enough, they just might give you a gift or two, which might even be one of their own personal items, like clothing that only they can buy at the shops, as the clothing shop features different suits for each girl selectively.

This game has gotten alot of flak so far, but all in all its a fun game if you get over your biases and just sit back and play it. It kinda leaves something to be desired though, like more exploration of the island, or more mini-games/things to do, but its not a bad start!

The Japanese versions were packaged with calendars and limited edition playing cards featuring the girls of doa on the backs, which are also featured in the game at the casino!

And no, there isnt much nudity, only a quick bit during the opening intro movie.

    That's all, enjoy!

Fun and light volleyball game, intended for fans of the DOA series.

Let's be honest, I'm writing this comment mainly to say that the other reviewer is completely wrong about the characters being like "harlots". I don't know what kind of "harlots" he or she has seen, but the girls in the Dead or Alive game series are nothing like them.

I'll admit, the characters Tina and Lisa could very well be thought of as "harlots" (sorry, I think it's funny that that word is used.) These are the worst two characters in the series, period. They don't fit into the game at all (luckily Lisa is only in the volleyball game.) I would agree that some might be inclined to think that they're slutty, because I'll be honest, they are. I've always assumed that Tina's and now Lisa's sole purpose is to attract a dumb American male audience. This fact, however, should not lead you to the conclusion that they are all like that.

Let's get back to the rest of the characters. Yes, they are curvy and fairly unrealistically shaped, but they are not prostitutes. They wear cute and stylish clothing, even the darker characters. What's, you say? There are dark characters? There's a plot?

Yes, there is quite a plot running throughout the games, which I won't get into. Soul Caliber can not match it. Soul Caliber also can not match the likability of the DOA characters (honestly, I don't think any part of Soul Caliber can come close to the DOA games.) The things the female characters in Soul Caliber wear are just awful.

The volleyball game is for fans of the DOA fighting series who have come to know and like the characters, and probably have a favorite, who they will enjoy playing as in a non-fighting setting. I feel that the other review is very unfair and should not be used as the only basis on which to make your opinion about the game if you don't know anything about it.

If you liked the DOA fighting games at all you owe it to yourself to at least rent this game, and build your own opinion about the characters. It's a lot of fun, and a good break from other more intense games you probably play, without being easy at all. And it's not just for guys who want to look at girls on the screen. Girls will definitely like it too.

In the end, it's a light-hearted game that will provide fun and enjoyment if you let it, especially if you already like the characters from the fighting games in the series.

As an ending note: if the characters from DOA really were put in a Grand Theft Auto sort of environment, they'd destroy everybody that got in their way.
