It's easy to understand why we keep getting these films: they're pretty popular. Sure, some of them flop, but more often than not, there seems to be an insatiable hunger from the public to watch actors slap on a wig and do an impression of a famous singer. And studios are often all-in because not only are there box office dollars at work, but if filmmakers and actors play their cards right, awards season glory comes calling.

Jamie Foxx and his production company, Foxxhole Productions, have struck a multiyear first-look deal with Fox Entertainment Studios.

As part of this partnership, Foxx will serve as an executive producer and content originator for scripted projects across comedy, drama and animation. When it comes to unscripted projects, Fox Entertainment Studios will also have exclusive rights to Foxx’s projects and producing services. Foxx and his team will start developing projects for the studio immediately.

Foxx already has a slate of scripted and unscripted projects in progress and will begin developing them with Fox Entertainment Studios immediately. The agreement builds on Foxx’s long-standing relationship with the network — he currently hosts the music game show “Beat Shazam” alongside his daughter Corinne Foxx, and he executive produces the police procedural “Alert: Missing Persons Unit.”

Visionary costume designer Paul Tazewell triumphed on Sunday night, winning his first Academy Award for his nature-inspired “Wicked” wardrobe. Tazewell’s “Wicked” victory makes him the first Black man to win for costume and only the second Black person to do so since Ruth E. The Star Wars franchise has been nominated for a total of 37 Academy Awards throughout its unique history at the Oscars. Many of the nominations and wins have been centered around sound and visual effects. However, only two films have received nominations for film editing.

The original movie, A New Hope, received both the nomination and win in 1977. Paul Hirsch, Richard Chew, and Marcia Lucas, George Lucas's wife at the time, all took home the award. It was a film that broke a lot of ground in film editing techniques and was well received for its work in the category.

Marcia Lucas was also nominated for George Lucas' 1973 film, American Graffiti. Chew was nominated in 1976 for his film editing work on One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Hirsch received a nomination for his work in 2004 for the Ray Charles biopic, Ray.

“Paradise” actor Marsden told The Post that he aspires to portray Frank Sinatra onscreen in a feature similar to Oscar-winning 2004 Ray Charles biopic “Ray.”

“To do a biopic like what Jamie Foxx did with Ray Charles would be a lot of fun,” Marsden said. “I would love to. And you’re actually using your singing voice, as well.”

From Austin Butler to Renée Zellweger, the Globes have long rewarded actors not known for their musical abilities who decided to show off their chops on screen in biopics. This year, that historical trend could boost the chances of two nominees: Timothée Chalamet for Best Film Drama Actor in A Complete Unknown and Angelina Jolie for Best Film Drama Actress in Maria.

In A Complete Unknown, Chalamet plays Bob Dylan. The film follows the legendary singer-songwriter from January 1961, when he moves from Minnesota to New York City, to his 1965 concert at the Newport Folk Festival, where he notoriously introduces electric instruments. Chalamet does all of his own singing in the film, refusing to lip-synch along to Dylan’s original recordings. As of today, the actor ranks second with 4/1 odds.

In Maria, Jolie plays Maria Callas.

Taylor Hackford's "Ray," the 2004 biography that chronicles the life of legendary musician Ray Charles, closely follows the conventions of the genre. It wears its sentimentality on its sleeve, the kind that often accompanies biographical portraits of geniuses, and uses embellishments to heighten its dramatic stakes. Despite these genre trappings, "Ray" emerges as a soulful, spirited drama because of Jamie Foxx's central performance, which oozes charisma. Foxx disappears into the role of the titular boundary-pushing artist, bringing the eccentricities of the man to life to convincing ends. The success of "Ray" can also undoubtedly be attributed to Foxx, who won a Best Actor Oscar for his work in the film. Apart from being nominated in more than five categories at the Academy Awards, "Ray" also won an Oscar for Best Sound Mixing (which is clearly deserved).
