    Okay So I Was Young

I can remember this like it was yesterday. Sitting at home, watching Funshine Saturday, waiting for the Six Million Dollar Man to come on. I was 12 years old. I was still addicted to cartoons and never missed a preview. I was especially interested in this one because my hero, Steve Austin was going to host it. The actor, Lee Majors, wasn't bad either. I thought he made a step up from Westerns, which I despised.

I gave this show a 7. Call it a childhood memory of simpler times. Still, I wish there were more cartoons on Saturday like the one I grew up with. Maybe kids would be calmer; less apt to take guns to school. Maybe they would try dynamite like Wile E. Coyote? Nah!

    psychedelic funshine clown was creepy

is it just me, or does anyone else think that that funshine Saturday clown and the animated bumpers he starred in were creepy? i know it seems stupid to bring it up, but the ABC funshine Saturday was on when i was six, and that thing used to give me nightmares (and i was no wimp, as i had the largest collection of scary movie monster dolls and posters in the first grade!!!) the bumper music and animations were so creepy to me, and yet i'd sit through them every Saturday (..."and Sunday, tooooo!") just to see the coolest cartoons on TV at the time! what does this have to do with the sneak preview special? well, not much, but if they only warned me about the clown, The Clown, THE CLOWN!!!!!!!, maybe i'd have been better prepared for IT.

Seriously, Pennywise, John Wayne Gacy, and Captain Spalding don't even scare me at all, but Funshine used to scare me so bad, i'd rather wet the bed as a six year old to keep from having to go to the bathroom in the dark!

    Funshine Clown was Wonderful!

To the previous reviewer: No the Funshine clown was not creepy; and yes; to answer your question it IS just you. The Funshine clown was wonderful, whimsical, and magical. Why is it so in vouge to say, "Oh wasn't that old cartoon character creepy?" Or better yet, "They must have been on drugs when they drew that cartoon character." Etcetera, etcetera...blah, blah blah. It's sooo tiresome. I remember this series of ABC toons and I loved them all!

I have not viewed the DVD itself though, but when I do I will draft another review. I'm just writing in defense of the Funshine bumpers. Ha, ha, ha!
