First thing's first... I felt I should write a review to make a small correction to an earlier review. Noni Hazlehurst didn't just voice the librarian, she provided the voices for ALL the characters, adults and children alike. It's little wonder this show turned out to be as high quality as it did, since it seems every children's entertainment project Hazlehurst touches turns to gold.
This series of five-minute shows (as well as its sister-series "Kitu and Woofl") showed a highly sophisticated use of stop-motion claymation, a technique made famous by "Wallace and Grommit" and similar productions. The characters were instantly recognisable in terms of personality, the "clay cast" was culturally diverse (in a "typical Australian country town" fashion), and the literature discussed on the show was mostly quality Australian literature.
In all, a nice light-hearted way to fill in the gaps in ABC Kids' high-quality schedule from the mid-'90s.

Well, what can i say. A delightful show, able to please any viewing audience with an easy to follow plot and great animation. Based in the rural Queensland river town of Long Flat, Lizzie the librarian resides with her mobile library "Booksy" and her friendly colleague Munro. Lizzie's true personality and kind heart shines, while visiting children across the outback. This opens up for many a storyline, ranging from birthday surprises, to mystery burglars.
Most of the series revolves around the Long Flat library and the towns' happenings. Noni Hazelhurst does a fantastic job with her role, creating an inviting atmosphere and never letting the show slide. Never a dull moment in this little town, and a place in our heart, surely not to be forgotten.

I find this a great show with some good old Aussie wit and humor, the voices are good and the animations even better, i suggest renting it from your video store as quickly as possible so you can see how good a show it is. Even though its a show for little kids, i still enjoy it at 22! I guess that may be a little but lame but i don't mind. Noni Hazewinkle, or smiley, as i know her, is good as the traveling librarian, and the cast of kids voices is great. I don't think that anyone, after seeing this show, would want to watch any other kids show in their entire life! I may glance at other shows now and then, but this show really is a great Aussie kids program.
