A rare view of revolution through children's eyes

The literal translation of the title of this movie is: Childhood at Ruijin.

To understand this movie, the audience need to have a little bit of knowledge of contemporary Chinese history: Ruijin is a city in the Jing-Xi province in southeastern part of China, and that part of the communist base before World War II. Ruijin, the largest city in the largest communist base, is the capital of the communist controlled region.

Previous Chinese movies about revolution is always about the heroic ideological struggle, or the bloody battle, or to most audience's dislike, the political propaganda lecture. This movie is something new in that it simply described the daily life in the communist controlled region in the pre-revolutionary era, through the innocent eyes of children.
