The revolutionary movements in Guanzhou area in the 1930's was willfully ignored, except when it is criticized. The reason is that the movement was lead by the pro-Soviet faction within the Chinese communist party, whose former-Soviet trained members not only held the top positions of Chinese communist party in the 1930's, but also ruthlessly persecuted the non-Soviet trained members within the communist party, such as Mao and his followers.
The revolutionary movement failed and consequently ignored in China, except during Cultural Revolution in which the surviving subordinates pro-Soviet faction leaders and their subordinates were persecuted.
This film is a mile stone is recognizing history in that not only it brought up the subject, but also pointing out that despite the political infight in the leadership, there were idealistic revolutionaries who were trying to do something good.
