Jayabharati and Ambika are daughters or Sukumari. They lead a mediocre existence . Soman is high bred . He meets JB accidentally and falls for her. He decides to marry her. His father disinherits him due to this .

Soman stays firm . He starts life afresh with his wife . Ambika is a constant visitor to their house . She's always up to pranks . Both JB and Soman bear her smilingly .

JB suddenly falls sick and has to be hospitalized. Ambika and Soman are left alone in their house . On one rainy night they let go and come close to each other .

When JB returns both decide to act normal as it was just a one off incident .

To their shock , Ambika gets pregnant . She runs away to Sukumari not wanting to hinder her sister's family .

When they ask her who is responsible she refuses to name Soman . Instead she names her class mate .

They maintain this charade for a few months .

Sukumari comes to know about Soman but is unable to solve this case .

They try to get her aborted and also see a few grooms for her .

Ambika withdraws into a shell .

All three are in this complicated relation ship not knowing what to do .

Torn between her husband and sister, JB is at a loss . Sukumari dies of shock .

In the end Ambika commits suicide . JB and Soman are united. All are seasoned actors who play their parts well .

The parallel story of Sreeleela , their family maid as a lustful aunty invokes quite a few laughs .
