Simon Pegg lamented Ilsa Faust's fate in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. He said people were pissed, they hoped she would have a better ending. Still, Ilsa's death raised the stakes for The Final Reckoning; no character is safe, not even the fan-favorites.
Misdirection is a recurring theme in the Mission: Impossible franchise; key characters have "died" and returned in subsequent films. That's probably why fans thought Ilsa Faust (played by Rebecca Ferguson) survived Dead Reckoning; she was brutally murdered in the movie, but there's more than one way to bring her back in The Final Reckoning. Speaking with Radio Times, Simon Pegg said he preferred the same. "I think that speaks to the popularity of the character and of Rebecca. But, you know, these are impossible missions, and not everybody makes it right?" he asserted.

Laurie might be on vacation in “The White Lotus,” but she’s hardly relaxing. In fact, headed into Sunday’s finale, actress Carrie Coon says Laurie’s officially “hit rock bottom” — but in a good way.
In season 3 of the HBO series, Coon’s character — a high-powered New York lawyer fresh off a divorce — is drinking her way through a Thailand getaway with her longtime best friends, Kate (Leslie Bibb) and Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan). But beneath the luxury, tensions simmer—especially when Jaclyn dares Laurie to hook up with Valentine (Arnas Fedaravicius), only to then sleep with him herself.
The betrayal sparks a drunken showdown, leading to Laurie sleeping with Aleksei (Julian Kostov), one of Valentin’s sketchy friends circling the resort. In classic “White Lotus” fashion, things take a turn when he casually requests $10,000 after they hook up. Laurie’s response? A quick escape out the window while his...

If you thought “The White Lotus” Season 3 was topped off on drama, deception and tension-filled dinners, think again. According to star Carrie Coon, plenty of footage never made it to air in the latest season of the HBO series.
In the latest episode of TheWrap’s “UnWrapped” Podcast, the actress who plays Laurie, one of three longtime friends vacationing in Thailand with Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) and Kate (Leslie Bibb), revealed that even deeper layers of the women’s relationships were left on the cutting room floor.
“A lot of our material has been cut,” Coon said. “One of the scenes from [Episode 7] was literally cut in half. So much of the material is gone, and that’s just what happens when you’re making TV.”
“Most of the scenes with the women were some of the longest in the scripts,” she added. “Mike [White, the series creator] loves these women, and we would just sit...

Working with Mike White and starring in “The White Lotus” Season 3 was an “undeniable” job for Carrie Coon, but according to the actress, “it was a real question” on whether it’d actually be possible. Fortunately, she had a lot of help to make it happen.
Appearing on the latest episode of TheWrap’s “UnWrapped” Podcast, Coon recalled her audition process for the HBO series, in which she stars this season as Laurie, one third of a trio known affectionately as “the blonde blob.” Most of her scenes take place alongside Michelle Monaghan’s Jaclyn and Leslie Bibb’s Kate.
According to Coon, she sent in a self-tape for the role — because “everybody auditions for Mike White. Everybody” — and heard back the very next day. What followed was a conversation with her husband, playwright Tracy Letts, about the insane logistics of filming a series in Thailand while still managing her home life.

For years, Hollywood has pushed the narrative that there’s only room for one woman at the top. It’s a mentality that Brenda Song knows all too well, but one that she’s thrilled to see changing.
With a long career beginning over on the Disney Channel to working with powerhouses like Mindy Kaling and Kate Hudson in her latest project “Running Point” on Netflix, Song has witnessed firsthand how women are breaking down barriers, supporting one another and redefining what success looks like in Hollywood.
“Men are the ones that make us feel there’s only one slot for us,” Song said on TheWrap’s “UnWrapped” Podcast. The actress explains that for years there was a sense of scarcity: one minority role per project, one female lead per ensemble cast. It created an unnecessary tension among women, one that she believes is finally being dismantled as the industry begins embracing more diverse stories.

Brenda Song knows exactly how defining playing London Tipton on “Suite Life of Zack & Cody’s” was, not just for audiences, but also for her own career. She also knew it meant going up against some serious typecasting once she moved on from Disney Channel.
That all changed, however, when the actress landed a role in David Fincher’s “The Social Network.” During a recent episode of TheWrap’s “UnWrapped” Podcast, Song opened up about how the legendary director shifted her perspective and stopped being her “own worst enemy.”
“I asked him, I was like, ‘Why did you hire me?’” Song recalled. “I feel like I walk in every audition room with Mickey Mouse ears on my head.”
Fincher’s response was simple but completely changed the way she saw herself: “I didn’t know you were on that show. You came into the room, and you were the right person for the part.

If you’ve ever seen Double Dare on Nickelodeon, or Unwrapped on Food Network, the name Marc Summers will probably be a name you’ll know and you will be able to connect the name with the face. Well, Marc Summers is, indeed, a very popular game show host, as well as a well-known producer, but we are happy to report that his career is expanding.
Namely, as EntertainmentNOW reveals, Marc Summers is considering a new career path. While he is going to remain in the entertainment industry, it seems that the television host is going to appear in a different role more often.
This piece of information comes from Hallmark, as the production company just released its latest holiday movie – Hanukkah on the Rocks – on December 13, 2024, and the movie sees Marc Summers in an acting role, which is something atypical for him, but it could also signify an important career change for the host.

Rebecca Ferguson loved portraying Ilsa Faust in the Mission: Impossible franchise. And the acclaimed actress was happy to make lemonade out of lemons after her fan-favorite character was inexplicably and shockingly killed in Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, at the hands of Gabriel (Esai Morales).
As a result, the thespian was able to take other acting jobs, like portraying Juliette Nichols on the Apple TV+ series, Silo, after saying goodbye to the Imf fandom in Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie’s last big-screen collaboration. Ferguson said during her appearance on the UnWrapped podcast back in May (per TheWrap):
“I love her beyond words… beyond words. I think she’s the most awesome, fantastic character. When the fourth film was going to be written, and they came with the offer, there was not that much to be done with Ilsa. And, unless you’re going to have a lot of screen time,...

Rebecca Ferguson decided to leave the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise because her character Ilsa Faust was becoming a "team player".The 40-year-old star's alter ego was killed off in 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One' and she felt it was the right time to bow out as Ilsa's "unpredictable" element was being taken away.Rebecca told the UnWrapped podcast: "To speak very clearly – because I know a lot of people are sad about it, I'm sad about it – I had filmed three films. In a recent appearance on The Wrap’s UnWrapped Podcast, Cooke finally addressed Sapochnik’s departure from House of the Dragon Season 2, while praising him as an "incredible collaborator" who had "really radical ideas" for the series. "I guess there’s been a collective effort to fill his shoes with other amazing directors," she said. "We've got some really cool directors that we're working with this year and Geeta Patel and Clare Kilner are back, I mean his shoes won't be replaced entirely because he is his own entity, but there’s still that proportion to make this season as good, if not, better."

Where to Watch Powered by Alicent actor Olivia Cooke discusses showrunner Miguel Sapochnik's departure from House of the Dragon and expresses optimism regarding the new creatives joining the series. Despite the departure of Sapochnik, House of the Dragon season 2 is still in good hands with co-showrunner Ryan Condal and executive producer George R.R. Martin remaining involved. Season 2 will have fewer episodes but will continue the story after the shocking events of the season 1 finale, focusing on the strained relationship between Rhaenyra and Alicent.

Though many celebrities are starting to avoid extended time on social media these days — or even having a presence there altogether — “Reality” star Sydney Sweeney isn’t among them. That said, the actress does think social platforms “can be very damaging,” especially considering how people jump to conclusions.
“For me, people don’t have the full story, they see a picture and that is it. Or they see one quote and not the context behind a conversation that you have with somebody,” Sweeney said during a recent appearance on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast. “And there’s so much that can just be misconstrued and spun for someone else’s agenda.”
She’s figuring out how to handle it though, on “a day-by-day basis.” She sees posts about her, certainly, but Sweeney notes that she also has to see them through a very specific lens.

From a pious Christian wife in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” to an insecure emotional teenager in “Euphoria,” to an outspoken daughter in “The White Lotus,” Sydney Sweeney has played all sorts of women. And, having had a hand in crafting just about all of them, the actress wants other young actresses to be able to have the same opportunity.
“I was a teenage girl. I’ve experienced many things that my characters may or may not have gone through, I have friends who have. So it’s just a more personal touch that I think young females can have with these stories,” Sweeney said during an appearance on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast.
“And we have writers now that are writing incredible female-led stories,” she added. “It’s important to be able to have those females be empowered through it, as well.”

House of the Dragon star Olivia Cooke has spoken about the public criticisms she receives for her character’s decisions. Based on George R. R. Martin’s 2018 book Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon is a prequel series set 172 years before Game of Thrones. The events depicted in season 1 spanned multiple years, with Cooke making her debut as an older version of Lady Alicent Hightower in episode 6. Former childhood friends with Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the pair’s bond later fell to bitter rivalry due to Alicent’s marriage to King Viserys and the birth of a male heir.
In a recent appearance on The Wrap’s UnWrapped Podcast, Cooke spoke about the backlash she receives for her character’s villainous decisions. Haters gonna hate, and Olivia Cooke is just fine with that. In fact, according to the “House of the Dragon” actress, that’s part of the fun of her job.
“I don’t want to play characters that have to be liked universally,” Cooke said on a recent episode of WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” Podcast. “That’s sort of like the beauty of what we do.”
In the “Game of Thrones” prequel series, Cooke plays the adult version Alicent Hightower, the wife of King Viserys (Paddy Considine) and stepmother of Princess/former Bff Rhaenyra Targaryen. Cooke has earned a devoted fanbase for the character, but recognizes Alicent’s cunning demeanor and somewhat questionable decisions may also earn some critiques, and “that’s so fine.”

When “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” returns to Prime Video for season two, things will be looking up for Galadriel. According to series star Morfydd Clark, the elven warrior will be “finding joy” in the new season.
Obviously, Clark won’t say too much about season two, with so many possible spoilers to get into. But, during an appearance on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast on Friday, Clark at least gave fans hope for the beloved character.
“She was having a sort of, kind of mental crisis last time and therefore quite kind of involved with herself,” Clark said. “And now she’s kind of thinking about the world and like, finding joy in things a bit more, despite the darkness. So that’s been really fun to play with. But also, again, doing lots of fun stunts and stuff, which has just been the joy of my life.

They say, “don’t meet your heroes.” And Morfydd Clark is taking that sentiment very seriously. In “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” Clark stars as Galadriel, who was originally played by Cate Blanchett in “The Lord of the Rings” movie franchise. And to this day, the actress admits she’s still terrified of actually meeting Blanchett.
Prior to season one, the Wales native was open about the fact that she did not want to speak with her predecessor before shooting the spin-off series in the hopes of making it her own. But even now that that missions has been accomplished, Clark continues to make an effort not to meet Blanchett, who she admires and describes as her “guiding light.”
“I kind of feel like [Cate] is kind of like a queen…I wouldn’t dare to approach,” Clark said during a recent appearance on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” Podcast.

During this week’s episode of WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” Podcast, “Yellowjackets” star Christina Ricci opened up about the “abuse” and “childhood trauma” she faced growing up and how she continues to navigate her mental health as an adult.
The actress, who got her big break playing Wednesday Addams in the 1991 film “The Addams Family” said that mental health wasn’t a big topic back then. Ricci has said she suffered from anorexia as a teenager and was sexually assaulted as a child. “There was no discussion at that time about trauma, and about recovering from those things, about Ptsd,” she said. As a result, she ended up “acting out and coping in ways that weren’t good.”
Nowadays, the mother of two still finds it hard to find time to focus on her mental health. “I have a baby and an 8-year-old. So my days are really busy,” Ricci said.

Lisa Ann Walter may play a fictional second grade teacher on “Abbott Elementary,” but that doesn’t mean she’s not concerned about what’s happening in real world schools — especially those in Florida, where books are being banned all over the state on a regular basis.
Walter stars in ABC’s hit series as Melissa Schemmenti, a woman who is blunt but always has the best interest of her kids at heart. And, during a recent appearance on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” Podcast, she was just as blunt about the current hurdles teachers are facing in Florida.
“They don’t trust them to pick their own books, but they want them to carry guns,” Walter said.

You probably know Lisa Ann Walter for her comedy, big personality and tell it like it is attitude. But, before she made her way onto our screens and into our hearts, she was just an Italian American kid growing-up in Washington, D.C. “White Lotus” fans everywhere just about lost their minds when on-screen hotel managers Murray Bartlett and Sabrina Impacciatore met in real life earlier this year — including Impacciatore herself. But, according to the actress, her first interaction with Bartlett came when he slid into her DMs to praise her work on Season 2.
In Mike White’s anthology series, Bartlett played The White Lotus hotel manager in Season 1 and quickly lodged himself into the hearts of fans. For the Sicily-set Season 2, Impacciatore stepped into the role. During her appearance on WrapWomen‘s “UnWrapped,” Impacciatore admitted that she was exceedingly nervous to fill Bartlett’s shoes and didn’t sleep for five weeks during filming because of it.
“I was always thinking about [Bartlett]. How could I not make people regret [hiring me]?” she said. “It was Mission: Impossible. So he really was present in my life so much before meeting him.”

After more than 20 years in the acting business, Priyanka Chopra Jonas finally reached pay parity on her new Prime Video series “Citadel.” But she’s not entirely confident that would’ve happened if Amazon Studios wasn’t run by a woman.
The spy series stars Chopra Jonas opposite Richard Madden, in which the two play international spies. Madden, of course, is best known at this point for roles in massive franchises like “Game of Thrones” and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meanwhile, in past projects, Chopra Jonas says she “never even asked for parity, I just asked for maybe a little bit more, and sometimes you wouldn’t even get that.”
During an appearance on Friday’s episode of WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast, the actress admitted that when her new agency team came to her and said they were going to ask that she receive parity with Madden on “Citadel,” she honestly laughed at the idea.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas can tell you there’s one key, for her, to being an action star: “I am so good at missing. Like, that’s my job in a fight.” As it turns out, it’s explicitly because she didn’t miss that she got injured on the set of “Citadel.”
The new series, streaming on Prime Video now, follows Chopra Jonas as Nadia Sinh, a spy working for a top secret organization called Citadel, alongside Richard Madden. Together, the two embark on massively high-stakes missions and, obviously, get thrown into dangerous situations.
In one such situation, according to Chopra Jonas, she’s set to take on five enemies. But before the day was out, she ended up taking a real blow to the face, which she later posted on Instagram.
Appearing on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast, Chopra Jonas explained that the battle scar came simply from a timing misfire.

It’s been more than 10 years since Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes informed us that “A Game of Shadows” wasn’t necessarily the end. And though it’s been a long road, his wife and fellow producer says that that remains true.
“Sherlock Holmes 3” was first announced back in 2018, with a planned release date of Christmas 2020. In March 2019, it was pushed back to 2021. But of course, it is indeed 2023 and the threequel still hasn’t seen much movement. As of this week, Dexter Fletcher, who was attached to direct the film, said it’s “not currently” in development, and that he doesn’t “know where [Downey Jr.’s] appetite for it is.”
Well, during an appearance on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” this week, Team Downey producer — and Rdj’s wife — Susan Downey, alongside her producing partner Amanda Burrell, confirmed that the project is still very much in the foreground for everyone involved.

Celebrity couples are beloved amongst fans, but perhaps not as much as celebrity best friendships. And among those friendships, few are as revered as Lisa Ann Walter’s friendship with her “Parent Trap” co-star Elaine Hendrix — but that relationship doesn’t mean you’ll see Hendrix on “Abbott Elementary.”
Walter, of course, stars on the ABC comedy as Melissa Schemmenti, one of Abbott’s best, but a little bit terrifying, teachers. But, before there was “Abbott Elementary,” there was the 1998 version of “The Parent Trap,” in which Walter starred as Chessy, the live-in nanny and housekeeper for Hallie.
It was on that film that she met Elaine Hendrix, who starred as Meredith Blake, and the two became fast friends. Over the years, their friendship is one that’s endured, and Hendrix even accompanied Walter to this year’s SAG Awards. So, it’s hard not to wonder if she might pop up on “Abbott Elementary.

Early on in Neil Labute’s “Out of the Blue,” a pair of James M. Cain novels get checked out by Diane Kruger’s cool, composed seductress at an elegant old library.
Unfortunately, the writer-director’s bid to evoke the murderous lust of hard-boiled staples “The Postman Always Rings Twice” and “Double Indemnity” is itself plenty checked out, a zipless exercise about as noirish as a commercial for household cleaning products.
Few careers are as mystifying in their longevity as Labute’s, whose empty misanthropy and gotcha dramatics across theater and movies were once the epitome of soured-soul indie cachet. His film career of late — whether directing his own screenplays or for-hire gigs — has been divorced from any meaningful expectations or promise or acclaim, but it’s still trudging along. “Out of the Blue,” which only ever feels tossed off, conjures the same head-scratching about its existence: If an adulterous...

“Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist dove right in Wednesday morning to discuss the vote in Kansas rejecting an amendment that would restrict abortion across the state.
In a landslide vote on the so-called “Value Them Both Amendment,” which would remove the right to abortion from the state’s constitution, the traditionally pro-life, right-leaning Kansas electorate drew a line in the sand. Scarborough noted that high-profile abortion cases like that of the 10-year-old rape victim and “the Texas Attorney General fighting for the right to let mothers die on the operating table” bolstered awareness that “this is the Republican party 2022” – and that many conservative voters don’t want to align themselves with it.
“Kansas voters, even people who are pro-life said, ‘No. We’re not going in that radical, freakish direction,'” Scarborough said.

Six seasons and a movie has long been the rallying cry for fans — and the cast — of “Community.” And, according to series star Alison Brie, there’s more movement than ever on that potential follow-up film.
“You know what, I’ll say it. There’s been movement,” Brie admits in an upcoming episode of WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast. “There’s been some talks. People are talking and certain things — wheels are turning. I said it!”
Brie’s comments come on the heels of her co-star Joel McHale, who gave fans a tease at the end of June. He played a bit coy on the matter, telling ComicBook.com that he was “more optimistic” than ever, and that “interest has returned,” but noted that there are lots of factors that need to go into making a film happen. But now, Brie is prepared to give fans a little more concrete hope.

Oscar-winning creative partners Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary are sharing their treasure trove of film knowledge in a new podcast called “The Video Archives Podcast.”
Set to launch in July, the project will see the “Pulp Fiction” and “Reservoir Dogs” co-writers revisiting the lesser-known films they would recommend to customers while working at the Video Archives movie rental store in Manhattan Beach, California, nearly 40 years ago.
Each episode will include a rewatch discussion of those titles, taken from the actual VHS tapes that Tarantino obtained in 1995 and used to recreate the Video Archives store in his home.
