    Very authentic documentary, amazing story!!

This is a story that is meant to be told to everyone. It has all the right ingredients and seemed more like a movie than a documentary! Very realistic and even had my kids spellbound. My Father flew in B-29's and it brought back many memories for him...that told me all I needed to know about how authentic the program was!

Excellent report of the way WWII really ended and why.

This documentary was well done and was long overdue. Most people think that WWII ended with the dropping of the second atomic bomb. This was not the case, as those of us who were there and took part in the last bombing mission of the mainland of Japan have known for the last (almost) 60 years. Now that this movie has brought attention, in an accurate and exciting way, to what really happened, those of us who were there can breathe a sigh of relief. Our important part in bringing this war to an end is no longer hidden from history by two great mushroom clouds.

Fascinating! In school, I learned historical facts about WWII. This mission shaped those facts!

I've always assumed that once the atomic bombs were dropped, that was it! Not so. There was dissent. There was a coup attempt. There was a knight in shining armor that came to the rescue. But he didn't know it!!

If the coup had succeeded, there could have been a third atomic bomb or worse yet, a full on invasion of Japan!! This mission, quite by accident, prevented this possibility.

A very interesting documentary. It's truly amazing how seemingly unconnected events came together to produce a piece of history that I've always taken for granted!

    attention-grabbing

The Last Mission revealed a part of WWII that I knew very little about. The movie held my attention and the actors were convincing. It's not difficult to imagine what might have happened if Japan had not capitulated. Thank you for your courage, Jim Smith, and thank you History Channel!
