    Awesome, Bad-Guy WHOMPIN' Fun!

You are a Superhero. You play missions which are all over the town called "Patriot City", stopping bank robberies, defeating the bad guys, etc. You have the Patriotic Minuteman, who whacks evil doers with a staff. Mentor, a Pyschic Alien being with immense telekenetic and energectic powers. El Diablo (My personal Favourite): A High Flying, Bad Guy Melting, Flaming beam Shooting, Building exploding Latino. Man-Bot, which is a giant robot with large strength. The Ant, a burrowing, wall climbing underdog. There's lots more. You do many missions fighting many bad guys! LOTS! The Towns/Streets are almost 100% interactive and/or destructable. Streetlamps/garbage cans/dumpsters/telephone boxes/cars can be either blown up or picker up and chucked at enemies or swung at at enemies. Buildings can be leveled, the rocks from their ashes thrown at evil doers. Some people have the ability to Fly (El Diablo!!) and can fly over rooftops. Some can climb up the walls (The Ant) and then run around on the roofs. or, A Jumper (Minute Man) who can Jump right up on top and do Matrix-Style Jumps roof to roof. You can also make your own super-heros with SUPER Powers, and buy them into the single player game so they can become part of the freedom force and actually play in missions. You pick 4 members of Freedom Force to go on each mission. Some may HAVE to go because of Rivalries, etc. Some may not be able too (Severe Injury, Have to look after someone, etc). The Multiplayer is neat. You can put your own guys (Or Regular, single player ones) into a game and you battle other people that join. You can have huge amounts of Butt-Whompin' mayhem! The Cinematics are played out in Comic Book fashion, explaining every super-heros ORIGIN, which are very fascinating to watch. Buy this game as soon as you can, It's going cheap. I'll see you in Patriot City with your first character, and I'll BLAST him to the depths of HECK with my MAN-Bull (half Man, Half Bull). BAM BANG!

A good and worthy homage to the Silver Age comics, finally!

Are you tired to death of supposed "homages to the past" by the big corporations of the american mainstream superhero industry that in reality don't homage nothing but they simply repeat at nauseam the same decostructionist stuff of Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns by people who try to mimick Alan Moore and Frank Miller as much as possible (I'm talking about overrated turds like Justice League: The New Frontier, All-Star Superman, The Grant Morrison Batman Run, The Geoff Johns schlocky comics, Kingdom Come Etc. Etc. Etc.)? Well, I have a news for you! This game beats the crap out of any of these "homages" because it simply takes the Silver Age atmospheres and writing 100% as they were without trying to add nothing under the surface and it's really really fun, albeit it's not the most difficult strategy game ever (there is no King Arthas level crazyness in here) but what matters is that it's fun, and at the end of the day I'd take this over The Frozen Throne anyday, anytime. The only real negative I see is the tendency of your party to be stuck because they don't do what you tell them to do, but again minor complaint not a big one.

All in all, highly recommended to all superheroes and Silver Age aficionados. I can't wait to see how they homaged my favourite period of all times (the golden age) in the following chapter!

    Great game, very moddable.

This is just a great game, like the other reviewer mentioned. If features a legion of Superheros known as the Freedom Force (if ya didn't know *chuckles*) brought together by an alien known as the Mentor, though the very first FF member that you get to play as is Mintue Man.

The graphics are very, very comic book-like and when you attack the bad guys, you get words such as "biff" "thawk" kinda like the older Batman TV show.

As the game progresses more Superheros are added to your team, and some of them are recruited by spending prestige, which can be earned by beating up the bad guys and making sure that the buildings (this game is very interactive with the enviorment around it) are not destroyed.

Your also able to make your own Superheros such as Batman, Superman, and I even have the Ghostbusters in my game, and again, like the first reviewer mentioned, they can be used in the single player missions right along with the in-built Superheros. (Some require special FX's which can also be made for the game).

This game is a recommend buy if you like anything to do with Superheros and the sort.

The style of the game is meant to emulate the early 1960s Marvel Comics with the graphic style emulating the art of the Marvel Universe's co-creator, Jack Kirby.

Alchemiss: Oh my. I foolishly believed the goddess was just a whole bunch of nonsense, but it was her power that saved me from this horrible brute. She told me to use my powers to transform wrong into right. Such will be the work of the Alche-miss.
