      Simple, and Simply Terrific

Simple and straightforward as storytelling, and possessing no filmic flourishes, CUANDO TODO ESTE EN ORDEN is nonetheless a splendid movie. Tracking a fractured family that regroups after a death and drug-related problems, it grabs and maintains your interest by virtue of a worthwhile story and wonderful performances. The setting, too, is rendered both simple and exotic by its foreign soil (small-town Spain, undergoing more of the same economics problems we have here in the U.S.A.).

This is one of those movies that never mentions the social contract binding families, neighbors, businesses and government. Yet that contract--probably the most important in our lives--is here in every frame of this rich and wonderful film.

A decent and dramatic film dealing with endearing family relationships.

Pablo (Daniel Guzmán) has returned home. Years of addiction and a seemingly endless disagreement with his family are behind him. As luck would have it, father and son are returning to the village on the same day. His father (Santiago Ramos) receives him with distrust. He wants things to be different again, but resentment and loneliness prevent him from looking to the future with hope. Ignacio has been given early retirement at his new company and has no excuse to prolong his absence from the town and from what was once his family home. Pablo, on the other hand, has been discharged from the centre and, from now on, will be able to continue his treatment at the village's own outpatient clinic. Pablo wants to show him that he has won his war against the past without suspecting that the present is even more complicated. While his father being rejected by the Choir where he usually sang due to long absence. And his son reunites with his ex-wife (Cristina Plazas) and their daughter, while she has a new boyfriend (Manolo Solo).

A simple and enjoyable film dealing with feelings, parent-child relationships, the problem of drugs in the family environment, loneliness, addictions, and broken marriages. This is the story of a young man having survived his own addiction, along with the story of one battle starring a mature man who attempts to preserve his sanity and save his family. It packs family relationships, the separation of his wife and children, the early retirement, the abandonment of the marital home by the wife of an older couple, emotion , and drama, but also some brief elements of enjoyment with some drops of humor.

Nice film , though slow-moving and has a few gaps , but anyway, its is compensated with the great performances from a great casting. Except for the main actor, Santiago Ramos, the others were relatively known to the general public at the time, but today, 20 years later, they are mostly consecrated, such as: Daniel Guzmán, Cristina Plazas, Miguel Rellán, Manolo Solo, Julián Villagrán Antonio Dechent ,José Luis García-Pérez, among others.

It contains an adequate cinematography by Angel Fernández who creates an unique atmosphere , he's Pedro Almodovar's regular cameraman , as he photographed "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" , ¨Matador¨, ¨La Ley Del Deseo¨. The motion picture was well directed by César Martínez Herrada. He is a producer and director, known for Manos de Seda (1998), Ruibal, por libre (2017), Cuando todo esté en orden (2002) and Arena en los bolsillos (2006). Cuando todo esté en orden (2002) won various nominations and prizes, such as: Daniel Guzmán best actor Bogota Film Festival 2002 Nominee Golden Precolumbian Circle Best Film César Martínez Herrada. Málaga Spanish Film Festival Daniel Guzmán in Premios Goya 30 edición (2016) 2002 Winner Special Mention Best Actor Daniel Guzmán, 2002 Nominee Golden Biznaga César Martínez Herrada. Turia Awards 2003 Winner Turia Award Best New Filmmaker César Martínez Herrada. Miami Latin Film Festival 2003 Nominee Golden Egret Best Film César Martínez Herrada.
