Plot: Chloe (Jessica Biel) navigates life with husband Adam (Corey Stoll) and son Ethan (Maxwell Acee Donovan) while her sister Nicky (Elizabeth Banks) battles addiction. Adam’s murder unveils long-hidden family secrets, shaking their world.
Review: Sibling rivalry is a concept as old as time. In extreme cases, duos like Cain and Abel, the Boleyn sisters, and Liam and Noah Gallagher of Oasis come to mind. People say blood runs thicker than water, but it’s difficult to see the forest for the trees when the floodgates burst. In rare cases, a heartfelt chat over a glass of wine or beer can resolve most issues. However, when a decades-long rift is made deeper by murder, there isn’t enough Cabernet Sauvignon or IPAs to repair the widening damage.

Featuring the talent of Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Andor’s Ben Mendelsohn, and British favorite Simon Pegg, who recently wrapped up the final installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, Steven Spielberg’s dystopian sci-fi adventure Ready Player One is a movie many might've forgotten. However, despite falling to the back of some minds since its release seven years ago, it seems the Zak Penn-written cyberpunk thriller has found a streaming renaissance over recent weeks, officially finishing at #9 in the Max Top 10 as of May 26, 2025.

Korean medical thriller “Hyper Knife” has emerged as Disney+’s most-viewed Korean premiere globally in 2025, the streamer revealed Tuesday.
The series, which debuted with two episodes on March 19, has reached this milestone less than two weeks after its launch, with the ranking based on seven days of streaming data. The Park Eunbin and Sul Kyunggu starrer has dominated viewership in the Asia-Pacific region and worldwide.
“Hyper Knife” centers on Jeong Seok (Park), a brilliant neurosurgeon whose exceptional surgical skills are matched only by her obsession with perfecting them. After uncovering a shocking revelation, Seok finds herself betrayed by her mentor and stripped of her medical license. Refusing to abandon her calling, she begins performing underground surgeries for society’s outcasts until her former mentor comes seeking her expertise.
The series presents Seok with a moral dilemma: use her talents to complete a seemingly impossible operation or exact revenge on the man who destroyed her career.

It's easy to forget that Jon Favreau's "Iron Man" was considered something of a risk when it was released in 2008. Marvel hadn't yet been purchased by Disney at that point, while the onslaught of the eventual Marvel Cinematic Universe was but a glint in Favreau's eye. When he included a cameo appearance from Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, delivering lines about the Avengers Initiative, Favreau meant for it to serve as nothing more than a wink to fans. It wasn't until the following year that Disney purchased Marvel and put plans for the Avengers into proper motion.
Robert Downey Jr. starred as Tony Stark/Iron Man, and the film proved to be a boon for his career. The actor has spoken very openly about how the years 1996 to 2001 were a time of intense substance abuse for him, culminating in him finally going to rehab in November 2001 after eating...

Paramount+ is ready to rock — and they've released over 125 episodes of musical performances to its streaming service to prove it. Coming at you from the other Viacom-owned properties like MTV Unplugged, VH1 Storytellers, and CMT Crossroads, many of the episodes haven't been seen since they first aired. And with a list of performances that includes the likes of Elton John, Neil Young, Mariah Carey, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, and even Nirvana's now-iconic November 1993 performance — which aired a mere seven months before the singer Kurt Cobain died — the list is a treasure trove for any music fan.
According to a press release from the streamer, more than 70 of the episodes have not been available to the public for more than 20 years. And, considering how much purging of content Paramount Global has done over the years, it's a relief to see that some things still get saved in the digital age.

Few characters in all of cinematic history have achieved the enduring cultural status of Godzilla. Since the reptile’s initial debut in 1954, the King of the Monsters has become a global icon, symbolizing both the destructive power of nature and humanity's struggle to coexist with it. Over the decades, Godzilla's legacy has expanded far beyond solo films, leading to unforgettable encounters with other legendary characters and creatures from different mediums and franchises. These crossovers have given fans thrillingly unexpected spectacles, blending the larger-than-life presence of Godzilla with equally iconic figures from film, television, and comics.
Each of these crossovers represents an artistic fusion of genres, characters, and mediums, as Godzilla's towering menace or reluctant heroism collides with other distinct worlds and mythologies. Whether battling superheroes, clashing with alien invaders, or confronting the different monsters from his own many eras, these encounters highlight the character's adaptability and cultural reach.

"Seven Samurai" by master Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa might just be the most remade film ever. The 1954 film is, sure enough, about seven samurai recruited to protect a farming village from bandits. The setting, themes, and characters are Japanese, but the premise is evergreen. "The Magnificent Seven" is just "Seven Samurai" but with cowboys. "A Bug's Life" retold the story with, well, bugs. "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" episode "Bounty Hunters" recruits the seven from Jedi Knights and alien mercenaries.
"Star Wars" creator George Lucas is a well-known fan of Kurosawa. (Lucas even helped him finance his 1980 epic "Kagemusha.") The galaxy far, far away isn't the only space franchise that can riff on "Seven Samurai" though. "Star Trek: Enterprise" aped the premise for its season 2 episode, "Marauders."
First, though, why are Kurosawa's films so often remade in spirit (besides them being so good)? One reason is ease of translation. Kurosawa...

How do you top “The Greatest Showman”? Well, for writer/director Michael Gracey, that meant turning to the apes…literally.
Gracey directs the musical biopic “Better Man” based on British pop star Robbie Williams. The only catch? Williams is portrayed by a computer-generated monkey. The Paramount film is billed as being an “extraordinary visual spectacle” that embraces Gracey’s “expansive vision.” Gracey enlisted Weta FX and Jonno Davies in motion-capture suit to bring Williams as a monkey to life.
Jonno Davies voices the monkey as Williams. Steve Pemberton and Raechelle Banno also appear in the feature.
Gracey co-wrote the film with Oliver Cole and Simon Gleeson. “Better Man” debuted at the 2024 Telluride Film Festival, where IndieWire critic David Ehrlich wrote in the review that having Williams portrayed by a computer-generated monkey makes “Better Man” a better film.
“You will see a monkey bleach its hair. You will see a monkey party with Oasis.

Each week we highlight the noteworthy titles that have recently hit streaming platforms in the United States. Check out this week’s selections below and past round-ups here.
Crossing (Levan Akin)
There’s no description of Levan Akin’s Crossing that won’t make it sound like the kind of feel-good dramedy which would have taken Sundance by storm in 2006. It has all the key ingredients: an inter-generational friendship forged between a curmudgeonly retired teacher and a young burnout desperate to escape his hometown; an epic road trip where they come to understand each other more; and the older of the two confronting her internal bigotry as they search for her transgender niece. Above all, any description makes this sound like the worst kind of LGBTQ story, which we finally seem to have moved past as a culture––the story of queer people aimed firmly at a straight audience. It...

The biggest story in the world of entertainment this week was the news that Oasis is back. Yes, brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher have patched up their differences — and by “patched up their differences,” I mean that they have agreed to occupy the same space while holding guitars in order to rake in hundreds of millions of pounds.
Of course, the Gallaghers have a reputation for being about as emotionally stable as their watermelon-smashing namesake was. And they don’t just feud with each other. Liam Gallagher once beefed with Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen, who presumably isn’t used to being threatened when he’s not dressed in a goofy costume.
As Cohen revealed during a 2016 appearance on Conan, he met the famous rocker while accepting an award from GQ four years earlier. For some reason, Cohen decided to make a joke about Liam Gallagher during the speech, knowing...

Hulu is about to get two amazing science fiction movies from Steven Spielberg's filmography. Super 8, which Spielberg produced, and Ready Player One, which he directed, will both arrive on the streamer in September.
Super 8 will begin streaming on Hulu on September 1, while Ready Player One doesn't land on the platform until September 3. The former, written and directed by J. J. Abrams, was originally released in theaters in 2011, where it earned positive reviews from critics and was a box office success. Set in 1979, the movie revolves around a group of teenagers filming their own Super 8 movie when a train derails, unleashing a dangerous presence onto their town. The latter, an adaptation of Ernest Cline's novel of the same name, was released in 2018 to mostly positive reviews. The Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 island features many great new locations and terrain features, including Oasis Pools. These special bodies of water can be found in the game's new Wasteland biome, and players can take a refreshing dip to regenerate health and shields. As a bonus, restoring health and shields using an Oasis Pool is also essential for completing a new weekly quest.
The Wasteland biome contains many of the best landing spots in Fortnite, with several major Points of Interest and tough boss enemies that create great opportunities to obtain high-quality gear. As such, many players make it a priority to land in the Wasteland, and it can often be dangerous. Maintaining both health and shields is crucial to survival, and Oasis Pools can be helpful in that regard.

George Miller’s epic Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is now playing in theatres. It’s the latest entry into the definitive post-apocalyptic saga of our time and a series that minted Mel Gibson as a global superstar, transformed Charlize Theron into an action heroine, and seems poised to do the same for Anya Taylor-Joy. In my opinion, there’s never been a bad Mad Max film, as they’re all quite different in tone and technique, although we all have our favorite. So, here’s our JoBlo list of Mad Max movies ranked from worst to best!
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985):
The only PG-13 entry in the saga, this movie has scenes that seem shocking for how cheesy they are in the context of the series. The two movies that came before this pushed the boundaries of their R-ratings, so I’m not sure what kind of...

With Maite Alberdi, twice Oscar nominated for her last two docus, “The Eternal Memory” and “The Mole Agent,” and Tana Gilbert whose feature debut “Malqueridas” won the Grand Prize at Venice’s Critics’ Week, Chilean documentaries are having a banner year.
Five documentaries participate in the May 20 Chilean Docs-in-Progress Showcase at the Marché du Film’s docu section, Cannes Docs.
Moreover, a delegation of some 15 other Chilean documentary filmmakers have swept into town with their respective projects, with themes ranging from gender issues, Indigenous peoples, climate change, teenage suicide and even, true crime.

The Amazon Kindle comes with much less storage than a smartphone, but how many books can be stored on the models with 8Gb of storage? Amazon has various Kindles catered to different budgets and use cases. There's the entry-level Kindle, the mid-range Paperwhite and Paperwhite Signature Edition, and the premium Oasis and Scribe. Depending on the model, Kindles are available in 8Gb, 16Gb, 32Gb, and 64Gb capacities, and some buyers may be wondering if they can save a few bucks and get by with the smallest-capacity model.
According to Amazon, an 8Gb Kindle can store "thousands" of books or over 35 Audible audiobooks, while the 32Gb version can store more than four times as much content, including over 160 audiobooks. The exact number depends on the size of each e-book and the amount of free space in the Kindle. An 8Gb Kindle typically has around 6.8Gb of free storage space after accounting...

There are not enough words in either the English or Spanish language to express the magic that is Bad Bunny's latest album "Un Verano Sin Ti." We all had high expectations for the highly-anticipated fourth solo album, which was released on Friday, May 6, and was accompanied by the music video for one of the album's tracks titled "Moscow Mule." But while we may have already been expecting the best, Benito has a way of still blowing our minds with his creative genius. If you haven't listened to the album, be prepared to have it on loop for days - I know I will.
One of the things that sets Bad Bunny apart from some of the other reggaeton artists of today is his ability to experiment with other genres and sounds. His two albums "X 100 Pre" and "Oasis" spoke to his signature Latin Trap style.

Much has been made about the dearth of strong female roles in contemporary cinema, and the problematic depictions of women in many recent movies, but the past two decades have provided plenty of counterexamples. While the onus is on writers and directors to craft strong female characters, the actresses themselves bring these figures to life, and they’re often the main reason we keep being drawn back to these works.
In no particular order, our favorite — and we’d like to think the best — female performances of the 21st century.
Isabelle Huppert, “Elle”
Paul Verhoeven’s “Elle” begins with a laugh that catches in your throat: A wide-eyed cat looks off-screen to the screams of a man and woman in apparent orgiastic bliss. Then comes the cutaway, which reveals a far more nefarious incident: Middle-aged Michéle (Isabelle Huppert), in the process of getting raped by a masked assailant on the floor of her home.

Awards aren’t everything, but no one ever complained about having their hard work recognized. Consider that the impetus behind this list, which looks beyond awards season to shine a spotlight on the performances that have most affected us — if not necessarily the Academy — over the last 17 years. Some were contenders that got snubbed, while others were too out-there to ever be considered; all are worth praising.
Many others were and are, too — so many, in fact, that 25 spots weren’t enough for them all. Consider Denis Lavant’s bravura turn in “Holy Motors” or Maggie Gyllenhaal’s brilliant work in “Secretary,” among so many others, and remember that the first nine months of every moviegoing year feature plenty of performances worth remembering.
25. Jeon Do-yeon, “Secret Sunshine”

Eat your heart out, moviegoers. Everyone loves a good love story whether they admit it or not, and the 21st century has brought us more than a few couples worth rooting for: Clementine and Joel, Ennis and Jack, Joaquin and his computer. Often these unions are unconventional or hidden in the guise of something more high-concept — straightforward romances are so 20th century — but at the end of the day, we all want to see a happy ending for our smitten lovers.
Our list goes all over the map, from the mainstream maestro Nancy Meyers to international masters like Wong Kar-Wai. Some were blockbuster hits (“Twilight,” “The Proposal”); others have hardly been seen stateside at all (Lee Chang-dong’s 2002 “Oasis”). However, all of them illustrate some essential element of love, from falling to longing and all the sticky bits in between.
While the zeitgeist has skewed toward the melancholy, that’s...
