John Cumpson does a female impersonation in a farce comedy

John Cumpson does a female impersonation in a farce comedy. He is in love, and things come his way so well that he is able to secure a position as chaperon in the family of his sweetheart. The father of the young woman, however, discovers the imposition and telephones for the police. Before the bluecoats arrive, father has been thrown into a closet and locked in. The alleged chaperon and the daughter in the meantime are on the way to the minister, the chaperon getting back to his usual togs en route. Father is being taken away by the police as a real burglar, and appeals to the returning couple to identify him. He yields his forgiveness and blessing willingly. There are some amusing situations. - The Moving Picture World, August 31, 1912
