Unconventional, thought provoking, and observant cinema.

I was lucky enough to catch the world premiere of Written by Franklin Mann at the Cinema Arts Center in Huntington, NY on 1/14/02. Shot with a shoestring budget and (according to the filmmakers) without a script, what you have in Franklin Mann is a confrontational, daring piece of work. L. Marcus Williams gets the most out of his cast, especially Dustin C.C. "Pick up that guitar and talk to me" Manning who gives a fearless performance in the lead. A promising first work and a refreshing brand of storytelling.

This moody, impressionistic first effort by L. Marcus Williams was shot with a surprisingly low budget, and displays an eclectic cast of characters. They are dynamic and interesting, and leave you with a profound desire to know more about them once the film has ended. His films leave you with long lasting impressions that get under your skin. Ideas that crawl into your mind and lay brooding for days. Years later I want to get my hands on a copy of this film. It seems this is a feat much more difficult than you might imagine...I look forward to future projects with him. The process was a blast, and Marcus is a phenomenal director.
