    low budget, but earnest

I used to hang with Kevin Rapp, when he was making this film. Making this film on a shoestring, editing on a home rig, using money from his day job as a CSR to pay for film and actors. No studio machine, no investors.

Is it a classic? No. But it is very good for what it is. The direction shows style and promise and an attention to detail I respected then and respect now. The script is clean and the dialogue well-written (I would go out to lunch with Kevin and we'd discuss dialogue, seeing as I am a writer...I got paid in steaks and fries).

All in all, I would like to see more from my friend. He makes me realize that the film industry isn't completely glossed over and weighed down by the commercialization of the art form.

Side note: Dean Anzalone, the menacing presence in this film, was the collections manager in at the firm Kevin worked at. He has a nice menace to him. I'd pay up, if he ever called me.

    Action-Adventure Classic

Probably one of the finest action movies I've ever seen. Simultaneously the writing and directorial debut of the great Kevin Rapp, this is like a blockbuster action movie with a brain. Casting Micheal Baldoz as a veteran with a haunting past was a stroke of sheer genius. Perfectly offsetting Micheal Baldoz is Micheal Guerin, in what is probably the greatest role of his illustrious career. While the one brother is dark and brooding, the other is marked with a fiery temperament. However, both brothers share the same passion: Justice. Together they combine to save Alexandra, played by the beautiful and talented Monique Scott. A must-see for fans of action and drama alike!

There are problems for sure ..... but ....

I was initially attracted to "Reflex Action" for two reasons. The intriguing plot of an under the border Mexican tunnel being connected to an Arizoina gold mine, and the presence of veteran character actor Richard Lynch. The movie has a nice grabber of an opening beneath an Iraq munitions building, and the overall photography is quite stunning. Character development of the four main characters is acceptable, and the actual mine locations look great. The film disappoints because there is really no development of the drug dealers characters, and Richard Lynch has only a very minor part. The cartoon like violence is another negative, with villains firing automatic weapons that consistently miss our heroes at close range, while our heroes guns seem to have an endless supply of bullets. - MERK

    THE Sleeper of 2001

The intense and at times melodramatic Reflex Action is a movie that cannot be ignored. Starting with a harrowing depiction of the death of an African American soldier (and friend to Quinn Taylor) in the first Gulf War and all the way until the last bullet is fired, Reflex Action is the action/drama that won't let you rest. Reflex Action is yet another feather in the hat of writer/producer/ director Kevin Rapp. With Reflex Action, he has truly proven now to his critics that he can do it all, and well. The sparing of brothers Quinn and Lee Taylor has to be put aside as they will have to find a way to work together to save an innocent girl, and their family's name. Bottom line: Kevin Rapp has done it yet again.
