Great low-budget movie with a storyline that really touches your heart....it actually made me cry. Jørgen Langhelle is a brilliant actor, and personally I think this is his best screenplay appearance so far (he was great in Søndagsengler and Elling too). One of the best Norwegian movies ever.

Wow.
This should be mandatory watching for every person involved in child custody cases. Things aren't necessarily what they appear to be. Langhelle tour-de-force, his best performance ever, and a script to match it.
Wow.
I have a personal tale to tell. I started to watch this alone at night. I started to cry. Half-way through my daughter (about 13 at the time) woke up and came down. She remembered and understood. This was her story. Our story. Politikally unkorrect, but still true. Of course it doesn't fit the big screen. It's a low-keyed script. Low budget, mind-blowingly huge story. Recommended for all parents, especially mothers.

I saw this film on Aug.20th, 2003 from the movie channel of CCTV. it was translated into Chinese. And the title is something like "my father had stolen me". My friends and I like this film, because of the story. it really made us moved as we could read a father's heart from inside. I don't know what will other people think. We listen to the importance of mothers' love to the kids a lot. Fathers are always so busy that they can't have enough time to show their emotions to the kids. And it seems we all give more love to mothers.
I remembered i haven't hugged my own father for a long time. Please, give fathers a little more love.

Tyven Tyven (meaning something like "The Thief, The Thief") has some brilliant acting through Jørgen Langhelle. He really IS a broken father here. But it's feel-good all the way, no fancy turns, no twists in the plot, just the shallow story, plain and flat. It's a pity, because this has the potential of a great movie.
