requiem for a dream vs human traffic

this film is the adequate balance between the two films mentioned above. it shows why an outsider would be drawn into the world of e's and clubbing, and at the same time illustrating how easily drugs can shred people's lives from one moment to the next. the science fiction element is a classically trained composer writing operas being drawn into the world of fatboy slim and ministry of sound and sticking to it despite the tragic events that are an an indirect result of it, but at least it depicts drug use, so it's a safe bet that 80% of all English speaking students around the world will see it sooner or later. all cynicism aside though, i consider this to be a tolerably written, beautifully directed and beautifully shot film with a soundtrack that limewire will be grateful for. most cynicism aside, i meant.

I generally don't like raver movies but.....

O.K, this is no cinematic great but firstly (I know this may be hard for some mainstream Americans) but you have to compare this movie to other Australian productions. In other words firstly ignore the buckets of trash we're exposed to from our movie industry.. And compare with standout exceptions like e.g Lantana,Goddess of 1967', etc. This movie I can say did captivate me emotionally, aurally and visually. Didn't sit well with the main character sister's drug death, needed greater depth and perception in reality. I really didn't know anything about the film before I sat down (except dance music) so I was surprised by the level of dramatic elements in it.. Quite possibly "Go" dulled my radar??? A overly fun film this isn't but hey I'm proud of this particular level of achievement for an Aussie film.

    Loved, Loved, Loved it!

This movie has the best soundtrack! I watched it at the Tribeca Film Festival exactly one year ago in April 2004, and it still hasn't been released in the US as far as I know. And I still haven't seen any news of the soundtrack being released either. I hate how it isn't easier to see foreign films sometimes. Even in NYC. If this film does ever make it out, I think most people will really enjoy it. Not only is the music and story outstanding, but the message is a good one. I don't think this film has been extremely well received in Australia where it is from, but the US would eat it up. Great work on combining good music, good cinematography, and a good story!

    Amazing film

One perfect day is one of the most amazing films i have ever seen. It made me laugh and cry and inspired me to try so many things.

it sends an obvious message about drugs which everyone can understand after seeing this film. it also has a message about music. it shows that no matter what kind of music you're into or what experience you've had, jut giving composing a go can make so many people happy. one perfect day shows music as an alternative to drugs because of the natural high it gives. you don't need to like dance music to enjoy one perfect day. its very sad and very beautiful. i love it!

A beautifully crafted film and a hell of a trip

This movie was very well directed and edited. It's been 2 years in post production aparrently, but the effort was well worth it. There's quite a lot of visual effects, and the accompanying sound is awesome.

Basically, the film is about a young man's journey to reach an audience with his music. The man (Tommy) has a talent for hearing music where others hear only noise, or none at all. I was impressed with how this was conveyed.

Tommy struggles to find not only a mechanism for getting heard, but a series of personal dramas threaten to consume him as well.

The movie was a fantastic cocophany of sight and sound. While the plot was a little tedious for me, I'm sure it won't affect most peoples opinion of the movie. I'd recommend seeing it.
