Weirdsister College

I loved The Worst Witch series, and this spin-off is also brilliant.

Very much recommend.

The characters are all well-written and interesting. My personal favourites are Mildred, Ethel, Hobbes and Prof. Thunderblast.

The episodes are all entertaining, with good climaxes.

This show is certainly one to put on your IMDB watchlist, especially if you are into this kind of show! It is a very good magical fantasy drama, and I personally prefer it to Harry Potter (others will of course disagree)

The cast are brilliant actors, in particular Young Artist Award Winning Georgina Sherrington, Oscar Nominated Felicity Jones, and late veteran actress Charmian May.

I love both The Worst Witch and Weirdsister College, although it is a shame to see that many of the characters did not return in Weirdsister College.

In what way do you mean that Ethel Hallow has changed? If you mean the actress has changed please refer to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0179061/ you will see that the actress Felicity Jones played Ethel Hallow in 'The Worst Witch' for 2 years (1998-1999). Ethel Hallow was then played by Katy Allen from 1999-2001. In 'Wierdsister College'however, Felicity Jones returns to play Ethel Hallow.

Although this is an OK witch show, the Worst Witch was better and I beg to differ from another review who says the Brits are way ahead of the US on witch shows. Charmed came out about the same time as the worst witch, and was/is a far better show than the worst witch ever dared to be.

Starring several cast members from the Worst Witch, Weirdsister College sees Mildred Hubble head off to further education at a magically concealed school in the heart of Cambridge. The show focuses on Mildred as before and her life as she progresses through the school term. The experiences of Mildred tend to be more mature, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Boys, teenage life and teenage pressures play a large part in the show.

A strong performance from the entire cast and the addition of several new characters help the show along and each episode has enough things going on to keep the viewer interested.

Sadly the show only ran for one season though there was plenty of scope for more seasons. A new version of the worst witch has been produced ("The New Worst Witch"), but no news of a new Weirdsister College.

This is a spin-off of the popular "Worst Witch" series on YTV, and it was a poor show. All the good characters were gone, and the writing had taken a sharp turn for the worse. Mildred was no longer clumsy, kind, or endearing--she was scheming and sophisticated.
