Zorra Total was a Brazilian comedy television program produced by TV Globo and aired from March 25, 1999, to May 2, 2015. The network kept the name "Zorra" (¨Bitch¨) for the subsequent program because it had strong appeal with the public and advertisers. It aired weekly on Saturday nights. In 2006, Zorra Total was considered the second-largest-rated Brazilian comedy television program, behind only the television series A Grande Família. Initially, the sketches featured major comedy stars, such as Claudia Jimenez, Andrea Beltrão, Denise Fraga, Pedro Cardoso, Chico Anysio, and Renato Aragão. In 2003, the program took on the appearance of a building, a sort of "homage" by director Maurício Sherman to an ancient radio program "Balança Mas Não Cai." But the program's remake project was rejected by the network's management.
Eventually the changes displeased the viewers and did nothing to reverse the show's deteriorating reputation, as it no longer had as many fans as Rede Globo's comedy shows "Toma Lá, Dá Cá, Sai de Baixo," "A Diarista," "Escola do Professor Raimundo," and "Os Normais".
