The dog's dead, but the rabies is not over.

I have been viewing a few Italian sex comedies, and found this little gem - a Mexican sex comedy.

Comandante Martínez (Jesús Ochoa - Nicotina) is investigating a string of murders where all of the women have a big smile on their face. They died very happy. What's the coroner say - they died in the throes of major orgasm! Outside of Ochoa, the main attractions of the movie are the extremely attractive women that get murdered.

He does solve the crime, and manages to get rid of some problems with his new found luck. He even manages to perfect the technique to his everlasting advantage.

    A happy death

Commander Martinez, a police detective, is puzzled when a lot of call girls appear dead in Mexico City. What really intrigues the experienced cop is that every one of women he discovers appears to be laughing at the moment they were killed! What could have given them such a happy death? Well, they all appear to have died from a heart attack caused by lethal orgasms!

Antonio Urrutia, the director, working with Javier Valdes, who also wrote the screen treatment, created a light sex comedy that also satires other evil things in the Mexican society, like corruption, religion, and other issues. The best thing in the film is Jesus Ochoa, who plays Martinez with gusto.

The film is mildly funny and while it could have been better, offers some fun for the casual viewer.

    Provocative and somehow naïve Comedy

From a time before Political Correctness became such a powerful Judge in the Evangelist/Christian Republic of the 4th Reich. I saw it back in 2002, and I recommend going back during the new reality, to find out what jokes you would still allow yourself to find funny, after years of social bullying and indoctrination, and also to recognize what is left of what was Chilangolandia. Just for that contrast is worth another ride, in a well acted and made with love, production. And come on, where else do you get to see Jesús Ochoa have a good acting time with Rafael Inclán, and Santiago Segura? Or Segura with Giménez Cacho! But for sure, this film would hardly be released in 2024 without being crucified, and is not because the sex scenes, find out on your own.

About the Director Antonio Urrutia, remember back in 1996 his short film DE TRIPAS, CORAZON, was a big thing for Mexican Society, thanks to a well earned nomination for the Oscars? Way before the Three Amigos made it big internationally, and who is one of this film's 5 producers? King Midas Guillermo del Toro, who saved last year's Ariel's Awards Ceremony by paying for the production of the Prize statues. What is hard to believe, is that Urrutia hasn't made a full-length film since...

Good photography, Good acting, good directing, awful script.

Yeah, this movie may have some funny moments, but it really isn't worth it. It's like taking one of the early 80's Mexican sex comedies and then giving it a better budget and better actors. The movie may have been a funny light comedy if they hadn't decided to add a boring unnecessary sub-plot, and a friggin half hour of pure exposition. The only good thing about this picture is that while the plot is worthless, the movie really does a good job at making fun of Mexican society e.g. ; Corrupt authorities, bureaucracy, machismo, alcoholism. etc.

Rating: In a world of numbers: 7. In a world of stars * 1/2.
