Pac-Man was one of the trailblazers of the video game boom, and an effort was made here to keep the franchise on the cutting edge. "Pac-Mania" is basically an adaptation of the original game, so you know its fun, but the key modifications are what make it particularly interesting. Firstly, Pac-Man can now jump over ghosts, which potentially makes the game easier; yet the game operates in an expanded side-scrolling environment. This allowed the developers to give this Pac-Man game a 3D feel with the maze, the ghost and even Pac himself getting a three dimensional makeover. Though of course nothing like the three dimensional graphics of today the effect really works. Indeed, this game, perhaps boosted by the simplistic game-play and environment defining of Pac-Man, works better than another attempt (the rather clumsy "Sonic 3D") at adapting a classic game character to the 3D format nearly a decade later. Overall, a successful and enjoyable experiment. Pac-Mania is available on Namco's Pac-Man Collection on the Game Boy Advanced, and it transfers to the portable medium well.
I really love pac man, i think he's a cutey thing. I really loved all the games that starred pac man it's self. I wonder if they will make Pac Man: The movie. I also remember the 3d version of pac man for the amiga.
Pac-Mania is a.. pretty interesting game to say the least, Don't get me wrong, The game is not bad at all, infact it is actually very impressive for the time but playing it now in 2022.. Let's just say that it is one of these games that you have to start with "At the time.." everytime you wanna talk about it..
So at the time, Pac-Mania was a very ambitious game, I really appreciate what they tried to do with this whole isometric pov direction and new power-ups and stuff, The art style is really cute and pleasant to look at, Everything looks so alive and vibrant, It is really cool, I think the gameplay is what takes the whole game down for me, while it is pretty fun in the beginning, It gets repetitive quickly, The camera is too close to Pac-Man, You don't really have enough time to react, Even though you can jump in the game, which is like.. the greatest thing ever to be implemented in a Pac-Man game, but still I just don't really feel like playing after like 10 minutes and that's pretty bad, Even for a Pac-Man game in my opinion, I don't know, I heard that the arcade version is a lot better, but as far as this version goes.. I just think that there's a lot more better Pac-Man games out there to play in 2022.

- TriviaThe original Atari ST version featured a very small playfield with a huge scoring block on the right, rough scrolling and sound. As a fan extension the original game was adapted in 2013 to use the enhanced hardware of the Atari STE models (like hardware scrolling, digital sound and the blitter), which resulted in a full-screen 50fps experience and therefore a much more enjoyable gameplay.
