The Scooby-Doo Project - Extended Version

A meta live-action/animated hybrid comedy Halloween television special satirising The Blair Witch Project. This project was way ahead of its time.

Fun Mash-up of Scooby-Doo and the Gang with The Blair Witch Project

This short film here is interesting. I didn't realize that this was done by Cartoon Network where they were spoofing The Blair Witch Project. I put it together by the name, but this was done for a Scooby-Doo marathon in October. It appeared it would be shown going to and back from commercials, which is creative. It also follows many of the plot points would get in an episode of their show and mixing that with the movie it is parodying as well.

What I will say is that I enjoyed that. I didn't love that some of the voices don't match up to what I remember them, but I'm more akin to the original series from the 1960's and I believe into the 1970's. They aren't bad though, I want to establish. I like seeing Velma, Fred, Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo taking on the characters from The Blair Witch Project. Seeing them nag each other and what not is funny. This showed that those behind it knew what they were doing.

It's not great, but it is a fun fast watch for those that are Scooby-Doo fans for sure.

Enjoyable Parody of the Blair Witch Project Featuring Scooby and the gang.

The Scooby Doo Project was a Cartoon Network feature that was originally shown in pieces between shows and commercials. The work is a takeoff on the Blair Witch Project and featured brief clips of those meddling kids arriving in the woods to investigate strange events only to have things start to go wrong. The show was then supposed to be shown in its entirety. For some reason the network did not include all of the filmed sequences, especially interesting was the missing sequence in which Scrappy shows up and the gang is not happy, one character asking, `Who invited him?' A nice little parody well executed. I would love to get a copy of the entire group of sequences they made.

i love this parody so much

The full version is about 30 minutes rather than 10. It has so many funny and iconic scenes that i come back to, an unexpected gem. The voice actors made this spoof for fun and it's a very authentic freestyle scooby doo. It's one of my favorites of scooby doo and i watch it when i want a laugh. I think it's pretty underrated. The voice lines are so raw and memorable. This is somehow a realistic take on scooby doo and i appreciate it as part of the young adult audience. It's absolutely hilarious and brilliant. It has the feel of a comical short film made with your best pals, but by the original scooby doo voice actors.

    • Trivia
This premiered only once, on Halloween of 1999. The Scooby-Doo Project was broken down into commercial break stingers during Cartoon Network's Halloween Scooby-Doo marathon, and then it was aired in its entirety after the marathon finished. It parodied its source material, Le Projet Blair Witch (1999), very well. To this day, it's never received a home media release of any kind, even though it was widely advertised by Cartoon Network before its premiere and was enjoyed by both kids and adults alike.

Daphne Blake: I need a break. My feet hurt.

Velma Dinkley: Well, is it our fault you wore high heels on a hiking trip?

Daphne Blake: At least I *try* to look feminine!

    • Alternate versions
This was first released as a series of bumpers during the October 1999 Scooby-Doo marathon. But at Halloween (and then sometime in December), they were collected into a full-length special.
