First let me declare my interest in this series. My Father writing under the pen name of Ken Gordon wrote some of the sketches and Jokes not just for this series but also for other 1970 and 1980's BBC comedy shows including Three of a Kind, Not the Nine O'clock News plus Little and Large. These comedy shows were of an ilk, no swearing, no filth unless you happen to be Benny Hill and on ITV. Tom O'Connor may not have been the best comedian in the world but he was funny and his humour was gentle. I don't know about the rest of the writers but I do know that my Father always researched his sketches to be as accurate as possible because although not designed as educational comedy can be used as an effective teaching tool. May be Iam too close to the writing, even though it was twenty or more years ago and my father has been dead since 1977 the gentle comedy is something that has been sadly missing from our TV screens since the 1990's. Time of the Coal Hole Club or The Grumbleweeds yes he wrote for the too (sorry) has sadly long gone.
