Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge is like a massage to the foot of my brain. Not only was it awesome, but it also teaches us that Russians and mind-controllers are not only evil, but mean and deadly.

I grew up on this game. I started playing the game since I was 10. I played it very single day. The game literally damaged my eyesight but I still loved it. I stopped playing few years ago because my laptop was broken. I started watching YouTube videos of full game walkthrough a week ago and then I decided to play again. This time, i will spend more time on skrimish, playing online may not be an option anymore. I won't some a lot of time on missions either. One of the most classic good old vintage games, how could I say no to it. "Sir yes sir", "comrade", "Yuri is my master". Let's keep the good old games alive.
...so let's nuke the bastard. Choose from a variety of soldiers, weapons, and tanks, establish your base, build up your defenses, seek out the enemy and kick ass in whatever way you see fit. This game is hilarious, mind-bendingly re-playable, and a true classic. It never gets old. The voice work is fantastic, with such cult actors as Udo Kier and Kari Wuher, how can you fail? Sure the story is cheesy - that's the point. This is not a game with deep messages and outstanding realism or whatever the hell hardcore gamers crave these days - it's a completely off-the-wall strategy game in which lots of stuff blows up, the Allies' secret agent has bigger boobs than she has guns, Soviet intelligence wears leather, and a bald Russian maniac poses a threat to free will itself. If that description doesn't make you interested, avoid this game. Anyone who can't appreciate a war game where you can pit flying saucers against dinosaurs isn't worth talking to, anyway. Play this game! (r#73)
I have a soft spot for RTS games from Starcraft, Age of Mythology, to this. This ranks up there with Age of Mythology as my favorite of the bunch. Two parties Allies and Soviets with differing missions. I always choose the Allies since it's not just the USA, but France, Britain, Germany, and South Korea all joined together with their own units, vehicles, and structures to fight the psychic madman Yuri before he psychically dominates the whole world. Among my favorites are The Grand Cannon from France, Sniper from Britain, Mirage tank, Black Eagle of Korea, and of course Tanya the one woman army. I like the opposition you face of Yuri, from his basic underlings, to mutants, brain tanks, and flying saucers! What's not to love? Very fitting for a B-movie atmosphere. You constantly change strategies to better your time making this game's replayability very high. It doesn't get any better than this.
It has been 20 years since its release. And I am very thankful to Westwood, the company which had released this magnificent game.
While being amazingly fun, I'd like to talk about its cinematics and storyline. One can not deny the fact that, for a game which was released in 2001 it has beyond spectacular cinematics. It's even better than most of the today's films. From Einstein to Premier Romanov, from Gen. Carwill to Yuri all the actors were tremendously good. And there is also Tanya, my childhood love :D. She is the best Tanya in the entire franchise by the way.
If it wasn't for EA this Red Alert series would be in much better shape today. It's a shame that Westwood unfortunately closed down.
